Job Overview Our experienced commodity traders manage grains, co-products, manufactured animal feed, and animal feed ingredients. We work closely with a variety of origin markets to move commodities to destinations with demand. Using our extensive transportation network—including rail, truck, and barge—we connect supply and demand across the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and Asia. We don’t just trade commodities; we deliver reliability, value, and the promise of doing what’s right. Role Summary The Merchandiser/Trader will profitably trade assigned commodities within a defined geographical territory, following company policies, maintaining strong customer and supplier relationships, and managing their profit center efficiently and professionally. Key Responsibilities Foster safety culture and best practices throughout the organization. Maximize trading profits within the assigned territory. Stay informed on market factors affecting prices. Communicate market activity to traders and management. Follow trading rules and regulations without exception. Operate within policies and report trading results accurately. Arrange cost-effective transportation of commodities. Maintain honest customer/supplier relations to uphold CSC’s reputation. Supervise support staff and ensure proper execution of contracts. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture Business, Economics, Finance, or related field. 2-4 years of commodity trading experience preferred. Positive attitude with ability to motivate staff and customers. Understanding of commodity markets, futures, and cash markets. Knowledge of grain flows, freight markets, and market opportunities. Ability to professionally manage customer relationships. Seniority Level
