Position Overview We're currently seeking a skilled and motivated Field Technician Team Leader Heat Pump Projects to join our growing Smart Heating & Cooling Division. This position focuses on the installation and commissioning of air-to-air and geothermal heat pump systems in residential and small commercial settings. The ideal candidate will lead a small installation crew, ensure high-quality workmanship, and uphold safety and compliance standards especially regarding refrigerant handling.
Responsibilities
Lead and manage a field installation crew (typically 23 technicians)
Oversee job site activities, tools, and safety compliance
Coordinate with the project management team for scheduling and installation updates
Perform and document system commissioning, including heat pump performance checks
Install indoor and outdoor HVAC components, including ductwork, condensate management, refrigerant lines, and ground loop systems
Maintain EPA compliance on all refrigerant-handling activities
Complete QA checklists and project closeout documentation
Maintain high standards of craftsmanship, safety, and customer satisfaction
Requirements
Universal EPA Section 608 Certification (required)
2+ years of experience in heat pump system installation and commissioning (air-to-air and/or geothermal)
Strong understanding of HVAC electrical wiring, low-voltage controls, and refrigerant charging
Familiarity with commissioning tools, smart thermostats, and system performance verification
Comfortable using mobile apps and digital tools for documentation
Valid driver's license (Class D)
Strong leadership and communication skills
Recommended Experience
Geothermal heat pump loop installation and flushing
Electrical service work or HVAC controls integration
Military or technical trades background
Smart thermostat and app-based control system setup
Experience with energy-efficient or sustainable building practices
