Mine Operations Shift Supervisor / Dispatch
Position purpose: Reporting to the Dispatch Specialist, the Mine Dispatcher & Operations Supervisor is focused on supporting safe and productive crew operations through supervision of personnel and/or the dispatching system.
Reporting to: Dispatch Specialist
Collaborating with:
Internal: Mine Technical Services, Mine Operations, Mine Maintenance Planning, Mine Maintenance Execution, Dispatch Team, Radio Users, IT Team, Processing Operations
External: Empire Technology; Communications with all that enter and exit the pit
People reporting to this position:
Internal: Operations Crew
External: None
Position responsibilities The position will allow for a combination of field supervision and dispatching depending on crew/company needs.
Field Supervision
Berm heights in working areas
Drill productivity
Drilling targets execution
Following dump designs (not overdumping)
Following dump plans
Getting people onto appropriate equipment as needed
Minimizing bottlenecks/issues at crusher
Pit dewatering system operation
Pit floor quality
Quality of dump sets
Shift change efficiency
Supervise ancillary activities
Dispatching
Cleanup files and bench lines on loading units to ensure not over digging
Communicate maintenance plan priorities and changes
Ensure there are no inconsistent cycles by the end of a shift
Obtain the correct cleanup files on equipment
Obtain the right patterns on drills
Maintain a good quality mine model
Maintain and audit MineStar system day-to-day
Ensure correct ore control on loading units
Minimize queue time on trucks
Minimize wait-to-dump time
Monitor pit slope stability radars
Report technology system issues
Track uptime and downtime of dewatering system and pumps
Demonstrate support of Capstone’s core values
Position requirements Knowledge
Quick learner with proactive mindset
Mindset of continuous improvement
Experience with MineStar or similar fleet management system
Basic network understanding and experience
Strong computer skills with Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
Key Competencies / Skills
At least 3 - 7 years of mining operations experience
Excellent communication, analytical, management and problem-solving skills
Strong computer skills with Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
Ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders
Ability to speak, comprehend, read, and write English fluently
Prior exposure to mine dispatching software and hardware is preferred
Work environment
This role is generally 50% office environment and 50% field environment
Must be able to stand and walk for short durations, including stairs and uneven surfaces
Must be able to kneel, crawl, stoop, and squat, occasionally in confined spaces
Role will be a combination of day and night shifts on a 7 x 7 schedule
