Overview

The Resource Planning Project Manager will support electric utilities in generation and power supply planning decisions, including the decisions and justifications of new generation facility construction, retirements, and facility retrofits or conversions, as well as power purchase decisions. The role supports a broad range of studies and consulting services to back decisions with business and engineering analyses related to power supply requirements, such as integrated resource planning, market assessments, and power supply RFP evaluations. The Project Manager will work with investor-owned electric utilities, municipal electric utilities, electric cooperatives, and independent power producers. This role combines business development and project execution: identifying new work, preparing proposals, establishing study objectives, formulating project approaches, and leading a team of consultants and engineers to deliver actionable results for clients. Responsibilities

Business development: Develop and manage client relationships, identify new sales opportunities, lead proposal development and submission (including project planning, budgeting, and scheduling), establish project objectives, and lead contract preparation and negotiations. Project execution: Manage project scope, schedule, and budget; ensure quality control of deliverables; communicate project status, risks, schedule, and costs to stakeholders; lead multi‑discipline teams of engineers and analysts; plan personnel needs and coordinate with department management. Leadership and mentoring: Train and mentor less experienced staff; represent the company as a leader in power generation planning and evaluation; support company initiatives. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering, economics, computer science, data science, or similar field from an ABET‑accredited program. Master's degree in engineering, economics, computer science, data science, or business preferred. Minimum 5 years of related experience; experience with electric utilities or consulting for utilities; 3+ years managing projects. Strong knowledge of power supply planning software (preferably PROMOD and Capacity Expansion; familiarity with Plexos, EnCompass, GridView, or others). Extensive knowledge of electric power options, generation facility types, costs, dispatch profiles, and power system operations; knowledge of power supply purchase agreements. Broad knowledge of electric utility systems and power generation portfolio planning. Financial analysis skills including discounted cash flow, net present value, and internal rate of return evaluations. Proven ability to lead, educate, and train a team of engineers and analysts; strong project management skills. Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and ability to work with diverse clients to translate needs into scope of work. Ability to travel as required. Benefits
