Assist the Lead Teacher in providing a developmentally appropriate classroom environment meeting social, emotional, physical, and intellectual needs of children in care. Provide one-on-one guidance to children, parents, and Centralia College students under the direction of the Lead Teacher; support compliance with Licensing, Early Achievers, and the early childhood component of the ECEAP Performance Standards. Open and close classrooms, prepare materials, assist with daily routines, health and safety protocols, curriculum/lesson planning, leading groups or activities, maintaining records, and participating in required training. Demonstrate competency in implementing program activities under the direction of the Lead Teacher and DCYF Licensor, Early Achievers, and ECEAP standards. Maintain appropriate program records, participate in developmental screenings and educational assessments, and discuss child progress with the Lead Teacher using parent goals and assessments. Support a culturally responsive environment and work with a diverse population of children, families, and staff; establish positive rapport with families and maintain confidentiality. Assist with supervision and safety, including supervision ratios, first aid, emergency response, and health procedures; follow state laws and program procedures regarding suspected child abuse and neglect. Participate in team meetings, trainings, and community outreach; may assume Lead Teacher responsibilities as needed. Complete additional duties as assigned by management. Qualifications
Be at least eighteen years old; High School Diploma or equivalent. Willingness/ability to obtain an ECE initial certificate or equivalent as approved by the Department of Children, Youth, and Families. Preferred Qualifications
One year of experience in an early childhood program. Experience with Microsoft Office; ECE State Certificate or equivalent. Physical Requirements
Lift up to 50 pounds; bend, lift, and sit at child’s level for extended periods. Employment Conditions
Hourly employees who qualify (work 350 hours in 12 consecutive months) are represented by the Washington Federation of State Employees (WFSE). Note:
The successful candidate's continued employment will be contingent upon the following within 45 days of employment: current negative TB test or health department clearance, MMR immunity, Department of Children, Youth & Families Portable Background Check clearance in MERIT, current First Aid and CPR, HIV/AIDS training or Blood Pathogens, Child Abuse/Neglect Training (including reporting procedures), and a Food Handler permit.
