Overview
Strategic Category Lead - Indirect role at Magna International. This position is part of Magna Exteriors Purchasing and Supply Chain, reporting to the Director of Purchasing and Supply Chain – Indirect Materials. Job Responsibilities
Create, implement and maintain category and supplier strategies. Develop bidder lists aligned with the category strategy and execute RFI/RFQ processes according to OEM and engineering requirements. Negotiate, award and maintain supplier pricing and supply agreements. Develop and present value-based sourcing recommendations to the sourcing council. Monitor category performance and financial reporting on a monthly and quarterly basis. Collaborate with divisions globally for Purchasing CRT cost reductions and contingencies to meet/exceed the business plan. Provide and share expert-level category knowledge, including forecasting and business planning. Collaborate on strategic objectives and maximize leverage with Magna International and Cross Group Category Leads as required. Assess market conditions, identify industry best practices and emerging trends to identify cost reduction and value creation opportunities. Lead and participate in cross-functional teams to select suppliers that improve value and help attain targeted results. Ensure effective operational controls and best practices across divisions; collaborate cross-functionally to exceed outcomes. Demonstrate leadership by credibility, integrity, commitment, and guidance to purchasing teams. Uphold Magna policies and compliance; understand laws and cultures in countries Magna conducts business. Promote corporate compliance for the Purchasing community as applicable to local law and Magna policies. Additional duties as assigned. Qualifications
Education: Post-Secondary Degree in Purchasing, Supply Chain Management, or related field. MBA preferred. Work Experience: Minimum 6 years in automotive or diversified manufacturing with related technical knowledge; 4+ years in leadership roles. Proven ability to work in a large matrix organization and lead by building trust with internal partners and global suppliers. Experience with OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers in a complex automotive market. Broad experience in strategic planning, materials, manufacturing, purchasing, supply chain management, logistics, and cost reduction. Experience with total quality manufacturing and continuous improvement; Lean manufacturing is a plus. Knowledge of quoting/launch processes, industry standards, metrics; travel up to 25% (including international). Skills: Sourcing strategy, finance, international sourcing, total landed cost, make-vs-buy, cost modeling; strong Excel and Power BI skills. Certifications: C.P.M, CPIM, CSCP a plus.
