Assistant Construction Project Manager
near Jacksonville, FL. The Assistant Project Manager reports to and assists the Project Manager and Senior Project Manager with the daily management, supervision, coordination, and successful completion of the project(s) to meet time and cost objectives with respect to contracting, scheduling, estimating, bidding, and contract administration functions. The assistant project manager will help ensure that nothing goes wrong during the project and will correct mistakes if necessary. MasTec’s Clean Energy and Infrastructure Group (CE&I) provides construction services for industrial facilities, power generation, solar, wind, and thermal energy plants, buildings, and infrastructure. Responsibilities
Support the Project Manager across all phases of project planning, execution, and close-out. Assist in developing cost estimates and performing quantity take-offs. Solicit and evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers; complete scope reviews and buyouts. Prepare and issue subcontractor job kits and ensure all contracts, insurance, and bonds are in place before work begins. Coordinate and update detailed project schedules in collaboration with the Superintendent, PM, subcontractors, and suppliers. Manage and distribute project schedules and ensure subcontractors have current scopes of work. Assist in obtaining necessary permits and preparing the Contract Schedule of Values. Maintain and monitor logs for submittals, RFIs, change orders, material deliveries, and other project documentation. Expedite material deliveries and support the Superintendent in ensuring construction quality and contract compliance. Contribute to monthly job status reports and ACR preparation. Maintain complete and accurate project documentation, including as-builts and correspondence. Support timely invoicing, payment processing, and change order management. Track cost breakdown revisions and document potential schedule delays or cost impacts. Foster strong relationships with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and municipal authorities. Enforce company safety policies and actively participate in project meetings and coordination efforts. Review project designs for cost-saving opportunities and ensure compliance with specifications. Monitor project progress, visit job sites, and address client concerns. Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree preferred (four-year college or technical school). Minimum of 2 years’ experience in project management. Proficient in Microsoft Suite and other management software. Organized and detail-oriented. Strong communication skills both oral and written. Ability to multi-task effectively. Self-starter who works well independently. Adaptable and calm under pressure.
