Advance the university’s tradition of academic excellence by providing instructional support in Supplemental Instruction (SI) sessions for targeted courses. Responsibilities
Attend all class meetings and duplicate instructor instruction to ensure SI sessions mirror course content. Organize and maintain lesson plans for each SI session to guide student study strategies. Provide technology, academic and instructional support to students outside of class during weekly SI sessions. Advertise and announce SI session schedule to the class. Assist with administrative duties and data collection (attendance sheets, surveys and planning sheets). Report student issues and instructional material concerns to instructors and SI Director. Maintain and model successful student behavior. Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree preferred. Minimum 1 year of relevant teaching or tutoring experience of adults in the related academic area. Successful completion of the course (or a higher level course in that subject area with a final grade of A or B; cumulative GPA 3.0 or above). Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Good presentation skills to explain concepts to others. Patience, positive attitude and ability to establish an encouraging learning environment. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and discipline‑specific software packages. Well‑organized, task‑oriented, flexible and able to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends. EEO Statement
