Overview

Roaring Camp Inc. is a heritage tourist railroad established in 1963, located in the Santa Cruz Mountains on 180 acres of old-growth redwood forest. The Bear Mountain excursion offers year-round steam train excursions through the old growth forest, and the Santa Cruz Beach Train offers seasonal excursions to the sandy beaches of Santa Cruz. Responsibilities

Responsible for skilled maintenance and repair of diesel and heavy equipment, as well as medium and light weight equipment. Possess at least 4 years of education or work experience as a mechanic repairing trucks, farm equipment, locomotives, automobiles, or diesels; or hold a current journeyman mechanic card. Valid certification and/or license as a diesel mechanic from ASE. Perform equipment troubleshooting to test operational efficiency and determine the cause of malfunctions. Prescribe and perform repairs to equipment. May provide lead work direction to semiskilled or unskilled workers. Perform related work as required. Apply heavy, medium, and light equipment maintenance and repair techniques to install, repair, and maintain equipment. Use heavy equipment repair tools and rebuilding equipment safely to perform repairs. Employ metal forging, forming and tempering techniques to repair equipment to working order. Perform arc and acetylene welding to repair or modify equipment per specifications. Detect, diagnose, and repair mechanical defects to perform preventive maintenance. Use electronic, computerized, and precision measuring instruments to diagnose, repair, and maintain equipment. Understand and follow oral and written instructions to carry out repair orders and maintain records and specifications. Keep repair records to log, track, and retrieve maintenance histories on equipment. Must be 18 years of age or older. Experience working outdoors in various weather conditions. Prior experience using personal protective equipment. Familiar with working around moving heavy equipment. Willingness to work in confined spaces. Availability to work different shifts, including overtime, holidays, and weekends. Possess a valid driver's license. Physical requirements: lift, push and pull a minimum of 50 lbs; stoop and squat; twist and bend neck; stand for long periods; bend at the waist while standing. Qualifications

4+ years of mechanical experience or a valid journeyman's card, with repair experience on trucks, farm equipment, locomotives, automobiles, or diesels. ASE diesel mechanic certification. 18+ years old; valid driver's license. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and around moving heavy equipment. Ability to work flexible shifts, including overtime, holidays, and weekends. Ability to read and follow repair orders and maintain records. Perks
