Major Gift Officer, Athletics Development Position: Major Gift Officer, Athletics Development.

Location: Villanova, PA.

Type: Staff – Full-time, 12 months.

Salary: $82,400–$103,000.

Reporting to: Assistant Vice President, Athletics Development.

Role Summary: This position is responsible for identifying, qualifying, and cultivating major gift prospects and donors that support Villanova Athletics. The Officer will establish and manage relationships with alumni, friends, volunteers, and faculty, with a focus on prospects with a gift capacity of $100,000 or greater, and will manage a portfolio of approximately 125 prospects each year.

Responsibilities

Identify and manage a portfolio of at least 125 major gift prospects, including individuals, corporations, and foundations with specific affiliation to Athletics.

Establish, maintain, and strengthen relationships with major prospects and donors, and design and implement major‑gift strategies using work and stewardship plans.

Conduct a high volume of prospect visits per month to develop a philanthropic major‑gift pipeline and close revenue that supports the priorities of Villanova Athletics.

Build collaborative relationships with Athletics administration and Head Coaches, becoming knowledgeable about the Department’s priorities, programs, and events to further athletics’ mission.

Assist the AVP Athletics Development in coordinating development activities.

Perform additional duties and assist with special projects and events as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required.

Two to four years’ experience in fundraising or sales/business development.

Proven success in individual fundraising or related sales/business development.

Experience dealing with major gift prospects.

Commitment to higher education and a strong desire to associate with Villanova University.

Understanding of University culture and the decision‑making process.

Ability and willingness to travel.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Comfort working in a team‑oriented, disciplined, results‑oriented environment.

Knowledge of general office equipment, including laptop computers.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree preferred.

Experience in higher education and/or intercollegiate athletics preferred.

Physical Requirements Ability to travel and work evenings and weekends.
