Overview
Quality Inspector is responsible for ensuring the quality and precision of components, assemblies, and systems that are essential to the safety and functionality of our customers' space exploration and defense technologies. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, strong technical expertise, and adherence to industry standards and regulatory requirements. This position works closely with engineering and production teams to ensure compliance with design specifications, testing protocols, and safety standards. Base pay range
$27.50/hr - $37.50/hr This range is provided by Ouroboros Space and Defense. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more. Responsibilities
Perform visual, dimensional, and functional inspections of parts and assemblies to ensure compliance with industry standards, design specifications, and project requirements. Use precision measurement tools and equipment (e.g., micrometers, calipers, CMM machines, vision systems, profilometers, thread gages, pins, etc) to check components for tolerance, quality, and accuracy. Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints (GD&T), and technical specifications to ensure components and assemblies meet customer requirements. Inspect raw materials, subassemblies, and finished products to verify conformity to established quality standards and regulatory requirements. Document inspection results, including defect reports (NCRs), deviations, corrective actions, and inspection certificates (AS9102). Collaborate with the engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to resolve non-conformances and implement corrective actions. Ensure compliance with aerospace and defense industry standards (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001, MIL-STD, NASA, FAA) and customer-specific requirements. Monitor production processes to identify potential quality issues and propose preventive measures. Assist with audits, both internal and external, and contribute to continuous improvement of quality management systems. Participate in root cause analysis and problem-solving activities for quality-related issues. Maintain inspection equipment and tools, ensuring they are calibrated and in proper working order. Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications (e.g., ASQ, Six Sigma, or NDT certifications) preferred. Minimum 2-5 years of experience as a quality inspector in aerospace, defense, or other high-precision manufacturing industries. Strong knowledge of quality assurance principles, including inspection methods, defect analysis, and quality control systems. Proficiency with precision measuring instruments and inspection tools. Familiarity with relevant aerospace and defense quality standards and regulations (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001, MIL-STD). Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams. Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines. Desired Skills
Familiarity with computer-aided design (CAD) systems and PC-DMIS. Knowledge of safety protocols in the space and defense industry. Strong understanding of supply chain processes and materials used in aerospace and defense applications. Physical Requirements
Ability to stand or sit for extended periods while inspecting components. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally. Occasional travel to supplier sites or production facilities may be required. Seniority level
