Location: Prineville
This position is open for recruitment and fully funded following the 2025 Special Legislative Session.
The Role We are looking for a strategic leader with a passion for keeping roadways safe and efficient. Join our Prineville leadership team as our
Transportation Maintenance Manager , where you’ll implement transportation maintenance plans, manage budgeting and oversee all maintenance operations within the district. You’ll guide a dedicated team, shape long‑term infrastructure plans, and ensure our roads meet the highest standards.
A Day In The Life
Manage, direct and prioritize maintenance work activities and develop maintenance plans.
Serve as a member of the district management team and work with other maintenance sections to accomplish goals.
Make hiring and termination decisions.
Evaluate employee performance and create plans to improve productivity and develop staff.
Manage the winter maintenance and operations program by monitoring weather and ensuring staffing, winter materials and other supplies are available.
Manage fleet equipment including selection through the purchasing process and assignment of equipment.
Ensure the safety of the traveling public by responding to safety issues, complaints and concerns.
Respond to emergencies and provide direction to staff, other agencies, the media or the public.
Develop budgets for labor, equipment and materials, and monitor resources, identify trends and create adjustment plans.
Develop and administer contracts and agreements within budget authority.
Exposure to all weather conditions, heavy equipment and hazardous waste materials is expected and may require lifting up to 70 pounds.
In‑state travel is required and may need to be available after hours, on weekends and holidays for emergency, on‑call and weather‑related purposes.

Minimum Qualifications Five years of lead work, supervision, or progressively related experience in transportation operations and maintenance.
OR: Two years of related experience in transportation operations and maintenance and a bachelor's degree in a related field.
Special Qualifications Driving is an essential function of this position. You must have a valid US driver license and an acceptable driving record. We will conduct pre‑employment driving record checks on the final candidate(s). Your license does not have to be issued in Oregon to be considered.
This position requires a maximum 45‑minute response time to 3571 NE 3rd St., Prineville, OR 97754 for emergency call‑outs.
