is seeking a skilled and strategic
Fleet Manager
to oversee the full lifecycle of our vehicles, equipment, and leased assets. In this role, you will ensure the fleet is safe, compliant, cost‑effective, and fully optimized to support our operations. From managing maintenance and insurance claims to vendor relationships and long‑term asset planning, you’ll play a key role in driving efficiency, reducing downtime, and maximizing the value of our fleet.
Key Responsibilities Fleet & Asset Management
Conduct regular valuations of company‑owned vehicles and equipment.
Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs.
Analyze total cost of ownership (TCO) for each asset.
Make repair vs. replacement recommendations based on cost‑benefit analysis.
Maintain up‑to‑date and accurate fleet inventory records.
Perform lease vs. own analysis for all fleet vehicles and assets.
Repairs, Claims & Insurance Coordination
Obtain and evaluate repair estimates and quotes from vendors.
Coordinate repair work with internal or external repair facilities.
Document and submit auto insurance claims; follow up with adjusters.
Maintain comprehensive claims log and analyze trends.
Ensure accurate documentation for all insurance and repair‑related activities.
Leases & Vendor Management
Evaluate lease agreements to ensure cost‑efficiency.
Negotiate favorable lease terms with vendors.
Manage vendor relationships and monitor performance.
Track warranties and manage buyout/return processes.
Compliance & Safety
Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, PHMSA, TxDMV, and environmental regulations.
Maintain records for inspections, registrations, permits, insurance, and certifications.
Work with Safety and HR teams to promote fleet safety and regulatory compliance.
Cost Control & Planning
Develop and manage annual fleet budgets (maintenance, fuel, leases, insurance, replacements).
Provide cost analysis and support long‑term asset planning.
Implement cost‑saving initiatives that maintain safety and efficiency.
Oversee the implementation and management of fleet technologies (e.g., telematics, GPS).
Operational Support
Ensure dispatch and terminal managers have access to reliable fleet capacity.
Schedule preventive maintenance to minimize fleet downtime.
Provide support for emergency repairs and roadside assistance.
Partner with Finance on capital planning and asset forecasting.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
Minimum 5 years of experience in fleet management, logistics, or transportation (hazmat/oil & gas industry preferred).
Strong understanding of DOT, FMCSA, PHMSA, TxDMV, and environmental regulations.
Proven experience managing insurance claims, vendor negotiations, and maintenance operations.
Proficiency with fleet management systems (e.g., Fleetio, Samsara) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong organizational, analytical, and leadership skills.
Demonstrated financial acumen including budgeting and cost analysis.
Performance Metrics
Fleet availability and uptime percentage.
Total cost of ownership (TCO) per asset.
Accuracy and timeliness of repair estimates and insurance claim submissions.
Insurance recovery rate vs. out‑of‑pocket expenditures.
Compliance audit results (DOT, TCEQ, insurance).
Vendor and lease‑related cost savings.
Maintenance turnaround time.
Fleet department employee performance and retention.
