Operations Manager - Custom Wood Manufacturing

Full Time | Ogden, UT

Overview We're seeking an experienced

Operations Manager

to lead operations for a growing custom millwork and wood manufacturing facility. This individual will oversee day‑to‑day production, drive operational excellence, and develop a high‑performing team within a modern manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate combines hands‑on leadership with a continuous improvement mindset and a strong focus on safety, quality, and team development.

Key Responsibilities Operational Leadership

Oversee all aspects of custom millwork production, ensuring on‑time delivery and alignment with customer specifications.

Manage staffing, scheduling, and workflow to meet or exceed production goals.

Evaluate and streamline processes to improve efficiency, quality, and cost performance.

Maintain accurate daily reporting including production metrics, attendance, and yields.

People Management

Lead and inspire production teams to achieve high performance and accountability.

Provide coaching, mentorship, and professional development for team members.

Administer performance management programs and ensure consistent, fair enforcement of company policies.

Promote and maintain a strong culture of workplace safety and continuous improvement.

Process & Continuous Improvement

Identify and implement initiatives to enhance throughput, reduce waste, and improve ergonomics and quality.

Apply Lean or Six Sigma principles to optimize production processes.

Track key metrics and implement corrective actions to address performance gaps.

Strategic & Cross-Functional Collaboration

Develop and manage KPIs to monitor production efficiency and quality standards.

Partner with other departments (engineering, supply chain, maintenance, etc.) to achieve facility goals and support long‑term operational strategies.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree or relevant coursework.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in a custom millwork, woodworking, or manufacturing environment, including 2+ years of experience in a leadership role.

Strong understanding of OSHA safety standards, Lean manufacturing, and process improvement practices.

Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.

Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, hands‑on production setting.

Physical Requirements

Ability to work extended or non‑standard shifts as needed (nights, weekends, holidays).

Ability to stand and move throughout the production floor for the duration of the shift.
