GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:
Successful candidate installs, tests, troubleshoots, and repairs avionics systems wiring in aircraft in accordance with technical specifications, engineering instructions, and DoD regulations. Fabricates, installs and tests installation, routing, clamping and wiring harnesses. Reads wiring diagrams and blueprints. Assembles and/or fits together parts to form subassemblies and/or complete units.
Responsibilities
Perform a variety of tasks requiring knowledge of fabrication techniques, materials, tools, and equipment.
Follow Foreign Object Prevention (FOD) and Electronic Static Discharge (ESD) practices.
Interpret and follow manufacturing orders and shop related machinery operations.
Support a zero‑defect focus and a “right‑the‑first‑time” approach.
Inspect finished products for conformance to specifications and comply with 5S Standards.
Fabricate, assemble, install, modify, test, operate, and troubleshoot avionics/electrical modules, components, and wire harnesses.
Install wires and electrical components into electrical assemblies per engineering drawings and specifications.
Test and perform fault isolation of components and failure determination of electronics/avionic boxes.
Test aircraft instruments and systems such as automatic flight controls, inertial navigation, and compass systems.
Use a variety of electrical measuring and diagnostic equipment and perform complete testing using manufacturing manuals, schematics, and drawings.
Present innovative ideas to improve the manufacturing process.
Utilize the Tool Accountability System (TAS) for proper tool control and hazardous material utilization.
Assist all activities found in aerial target maintenance, including hand and power tool use, lifting heavy objects, and working with industrial chemicals and adhesives such as epoxy, grease, jet fuel, oils, and cleaners.
Work extended hours or weekends as needed and travel domestically for extended durations as assigned.
Qualifications
Maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by government standards.
Interact effectively with peers and supervisors and with the public when necessary.
Adhere to workplace rules.
Prior experience with avionics/aircraft maintenance.
Strong decision‑making and isolation & troubleshooting skills.
Accurate basic math skills and ability to read schematics and drawings.
Proficiency at electronic assembly, soldering, crimping, splicing, harness fabrication, and control panel building.
Test & isolate component failures and install components.
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent; 2+ years of avionics/aircraft maintenance experience for Technician I.
4+ years of experience and all skills listed above for Technician II.
6+ years of experience for Technician III.
Compensation $27.00 - $36.00 Hourly
