Base Pay Range
$120,000.00/yr - $140,000.00/yr
Position Purpose We are looking for an ambitious and self-driven Commodity Manager that has experience in Nutraceuticals Procurement and Powder Supply Chain. As a Commodity Manager, you will be responsible for building and maintaining supplier relationships. You will also identify necessary products and services to support daily operations and play a crucial role in Somafina’s operations and productivity.
Duties & Responsibilities
Develop, negotiate, and manage vendor programs and relationships.
Conduct research to understand company operations needs and requirements.
Develop suppliers and support quality improvement.
Lead the negotiation and management of strategic supplier contracts.
Advise management on commodity cost trends, material availability, production options, and alternatives.
Visit suppliers to evaluate their facilities, capacity, and ability to meet Somafina’s requirements specifications and delivery dates.
Keep abreast of industry and market trends and best practices.
Conduct regular category reviews with preferred vendors and senior management.
Manage vendor communications and provide performance feedback, resolving issues based on vendor scorecard assessment.
Monitor attainment of product category and supplier service level goals.
Ensure commodity grouping strategy is developed, tracked, and measured against key performance criteria.
Develop and/or assist in developing sourcing strategies for assigned commodity groupings and implement new strategies once approved.
Work to minimize inventory levels while ensuring adequate inventory to support customer delivery.
Identify cost savings opportunities and manage cost reduction activities to achieve annual cost reduction goals.
Negotiate agreements with critical suppliers to secure high-quality goods and value based on market shifts, supply chain demands, and product offerings.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements & Qualifications
At least 8-10 years of experience in raw material sourcing with emphasis in powders and nutraceuticals.
Proven negotiation capabilities, including price, payment, and delivery terms.
Coordinate efforts between suppliers, R&D, quality assurance, and procurement personnel to facilitate material substitutions, standardization, and rework of purchased materials.
Sense of ownership and pride in performance and its impact on the company’s success.
Open-minded self-starter with the ability to adapt, improvise, and solve problems.
Able to manage time well, plan, handle and prioritize multiple tasks, and complete them with a strong sense of urgency.
Great communication, interpersonal, and networking skills.
Strong critical thinking and problem resolution in ambiguous situations with a self-driven initiative to manage projects effectively.
Business Travel 20% travel required.
