Trade Manager
to oversee trade spend, analyze market performance, and develop promotional strategies that maximize ROI. This role is critical in ensuring trade investments deliver measurable results that drive sales growth and profitability. Responsibilities
1. Performance Reporting & Analysis : Collect, organize, and analyze sales data to support daily, weekly, and monthly reporting requirements; develop insights on pricing trends, velocity and sales performance, promotional effectiveness, distribution and SKU gap analysis; translate complex data into actionable insights for Sales, Finance, and Marketing to identify growth opportunities and optimize strategies. 2. Trade Promotion Management : Partner with the Sr. Director of Sales to develop and execute annual trade promotion plans; manage and track customer-specific promotional programs and couponing initiatives; coordinate with brokers and retail partners to submit promotional calendars and ensure execution; verify in-store promotional compliance through store audits and digital platforms (FieldAgent, retailer sites, SPINS, Instacart, etc.); monitor trade spending and promotional budgets, ensuring proper tracking through distributor deductions and direct invoices; analyze pre- and post-promotion ROI to optimize future investments; oversee manufacturer coupon redemptions and reporting through Inmar. 3. Category Management Support : Provide analytical support for category management and sales initiatives; leverage internal and syndicated data (Circana, Nielsen, IRI) to develop category review presentations for retail partners; create data-driven visuals and presentations for retailer meetings, board reviews, and investor updates. 4. New Item Setup : Complete retailer-specific new item setup forms and submissions; manage item creation within GDSN platforms (1WorldSync, Kroger VIP, Syndigo); coordinate new item setup with distributor systems (KeHE, UNFI, GFI). 5. Deduction Management : Review and validate all distributor deductions for accuracy and approval; serve as the liaison with distributor partners to obtain documentation and resolve disputes; submit and track deduction disputes, ensuring repayment or clarification; support accounting in maintaining deduction and repayment tracking. 6. Forecasting & Budgeting : Assist Operations and Inventory teams in maintaining accurate supply forecasts; support annual sales budgeting and promotional profitability analysis. 7. Additional Responsibilities : Provide financial analysis and reporting support for strategic decision-making; contribute to process improvement and data integrity initiatives across the Sales team. Qualifications & Skills
Experience:
3–5 years in trade management, trade marketing, or sales analytics within the CPG industry. Education:
Bachelor’s degree required (Business, Marketing, Finance, or related field preferred). Technical Skills:
Advanced Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI proficiency; strong analytical and reporting capabilities. Industry Knowledge:
Understanding of the CPG retail landscape, trade promotion dynamics, and syndicated data systems (Nielsen, IRI, Circana). Communication:
Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills; able to convey data-driven insights clearly to cross-functional teams. Strategic Thinking:
Ability to balance analytical rigor with creative problem-solving to drive growth. Organization:
Strong project management skills and attention to detail in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. Location:
On-site role at our Metro Detroit headquarters. Salary Range:
