Department of Campus Recreation and Wellness is currently seeking several Adventure Leadership Assistants
Join our dedicated team at Campus Recreation and Wellness ( CRW ) as an Adventure Leader! This role offers flexible hours and the opportunity to gain valuable experience in leading and facilitating adventure programs. You will play a crucial role in enhancing the well-being of the campus community through outdoor and adventure-based activities.
CRW
is committed to creating an environment of belonging and well-being and supports the Division of Student Affairs' commitment to purposeful well-being.
Main Responsibilities and Duties:
Lead and facilitate adventure programs such as rock climbing, kayaking, and hiking
Assist with the planning and implementation of adventure trips and events
Ensure the safety and well-being of participants
Maintain and inspect equipment and facilities
Promote
CRW
adventure programs and encourage student participation
Operate the Adventure Center and Rock-Climbing Wall:
Ensure the safety and well-being of participants at our climbing wall including belaying, supervision and enforcement of climbing wall polices.
Create a welcoming and safe environment while providing exemplary customer service. *
Assist participants and trip staff with equipment selection and rentals.
Load watercraft onto vehicles for participant and program use.
Offer guidance and resources for outdoor recreation activities to participants.
Be attentive, attend all training, and perform other duties as assigned.
Challenge Course Program Responsibilities and Duties:
Lead groups safely and effectively through field games, low ropes course tasks, alpine tower, and odyssey course.
Properly utilize, store, and care for challenge course equipment.
Participate in maintenance and inspections of program areas.
Facilitate the group through activities and resolve any conflicts.
Adapt to group goals and needs while debriefing and leading activities.
Ability to obtain belay certification through ECU's climbing wall clinic within two weeks of hire.
Preferred (Majors, Experience, GPA, etc.) Majors that may find this a good fit include, but are not limited to: Kinesiology
Recreation and Park Management
Environmental Health/ Environmental Studies
Business Administration
Requirements:
Must have at least a 2.5
GPA
Obtain valid
CPR
and First Aid certification and blood-borne pathogens training within 60 days of being hired.
Must be a current
ECU
student
Must be qualified for Federal Work Study.
Additional
Qualifications:
Experience in outdoor activities or adventure programming preferred.
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Ability to lift 50 pounds.
