Transportation Mobility Trainer - Special Needs

Position summary: MMP’s Mobility Training Department is seeking a full-time energetic Transportation Mobility Specialist trainer to assist individuals with disabilities in utilizing public transportation. This is a field position with frequent travel throughout LA County and in-field training is required. Bilingual in Spanish is a prerequisite for the position. Training will be provided. Pay range is $23-25/hour with a competitive benefits package. Responsibilities Educate participants to safely utilize public transit resources in a variety of settings Promote MMP programs and/or services at public events or meetings/outreach events Complete infield and outfield marketing to promote MMP programs and coordinate workshops Design and update group travel training workshop PowerPoint presentations Coordinate and deliver all group travel training workshops (booking, coordination, confirmations, performance, documentation) Learn, understand, and teach the use of transit maps and schedules Work independently and constructively in a field environment and meet project commitments in a timely manner Support the safety and well-being of participants at all times Utilize MS Outlook to calendar field assignments and related activities Maintain ongoing effective communications with management, staff and other parties Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned Education and/or Experience Associate degree, BA degree, currently enrolled in 2- or 4-year program in education, special education, kinesiology, social work, occupational or physical therapy, psychology or related human services field with 3–5 years of applicable experience working with seniors/individuals with disabilities Or high school diploma with 5 years of directly related experience with seniors/individuals with disabilities Minimum of 1 year of proven marketing/networking experience 1 year of public speaking/experience conducting workshops Experience developing and using PowerPoint presentations Specific project requirements may include bilingual skills in English and Spanish Knowledge and Abilities Knowledge Of Common challenges faced by persons with disabilities in utilizing public transportation Common challenges faced by seniors in activities involving mobility and use of public transportation ADA regulations and other laws governing transportation services to individuals with disabilities Abilities To Learn, understand, and teach the use of transit maps and schedules Work independently in a field environment Be punctual and reliable to meet time commitments Communicate effectively in oral and written forms Apply problem solving and critical thinking skills Interact professionally with participants Give public presentations (highly preferred) Utilize computers and MS Office/Outlook Maintain an accurate electronic calendar Use internet tools/apps such as Google Maps, transit apps, Skype, and Remote Desktop Other Requirements Valid California driver’s license, vehicle insurance, good driving record and reliable transportation Certification in Adult CPR and First Aid (training provided) Physical Demands Ability to react and provide reasonable assistance to participants in emergencies. Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and climb stairs. Frequent use of hands for keyboard/mouse; ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally. Vision requirements include close, distance, and peripheral vision and depth perception for computer use and navigating transportation systems. Work Environment Field-based with occasional office work; exposure to outside weather conditions. Noise level typically moderate.
