Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Supervises the manufacture and inspection of ductile iron pipes, fire hydrants, valves, meters, special castings and fittings, to direct the laying of water pipe with all its appurtenances, to superintend the extension and repairs to the pipe system and maintain the water service to customers.
Plans capital improvements, budgets, staffing requirements, material and equipment needed to maintain the distribution system.
Communicates effectively with other City departments, vendors, contractors, federal and state regulatory officials, consultants, media, customers and the general public concerning the operation of the distribution system.
Manages and directs a large diverse group of employees which will include managers and first line supervisors.
