Job Summary Assist the Regional Head CPM and Head of the Stressed Asset Group to implement the strategy for credit portfolio management (CPM) in relation to stressed exposures across the Europe & Americas region. Ensure adherence to the CPM business conduct framework and reinforce first‑line ownership of risk in managing emerging risks in the CIB portfolio. Collaborate with Risk, FM and Banking teams to manage the stressed asset portfolio, improve the overall RoTE for CIB and the Group, optimise RWA and liquidity, and maintain appropriate data capture to feed into credit modelling regimes.
Key Responsibilities
Develop clear milestones and execution trackers for the Stressed Asset Group’s strategy implementation across Europe & Americas.
Challenge and support impairment forecasts developed by the First Line.
Build skill sets in Structured Finance, Project Finance, Leverage Finance, and Credit Risk.
Drive financial performance against targets, including long‑term RoRWA/RoTE goals and RWA targets for CIB.
Improve efficiency, speed and productivity of capital for the stressed asset portfolio and broader CIB balance sheet.
Work with Risk Managers to determine credit risk grades and provisioning on all stressed assets.
Ensure adherence to CG 12, CG 13/14, and Problem Accounts Management Standards.
Report material impairments and related issues to Regional Head CPM and relevant risk governance committees.
Mitigate litigation, environmental, regulatory and reputational risks arising from the stressed asset portfolio.
Provide feedback to frontline teams on credit origination, documentation and early problem recognition.
Drive continuous improvement of operational efficiency and effectiveness of processes across the global system.
Evaluate data availability and integrity issues to adapt the Stressed Asset Group mandate.
Establish strategic objectives and performance measurements for proposed mitigation actions.
Align global priorities with local balance sheet realities and support mitigation actions on the stressed asset portfolio.
Support CPM processes allocated to the CEO and CIB, ensuring compliance with risk appetite and regulatory standards.
Ensure operational risk management framework is effective and compliant with internal policies and external regulations.
Ensure compliance with anti‑money laundering regulations and resolve audit and compliance issues promptly.
Lead by example, build culture and values, and maintain clear objectives for all staff.
Skills & Experience
Financial analysis, financial statement analysis, business markets, capital management, commercial loan review, portfolio management, financial products and markets, asset and liability management (ALM), legal analysis.
Qualifications
Post‑graduate qualifications (MBA, CFA, Chartered Accountancy, Mathematics/Statistics, Qualified Lawyer).
Over 20 years of experience in banking and financial services, including underwriting, managing and recovering credit exposures across developed and emerging markets.
Extensive experience in Structured Finance, Project Finance, Leverage Finance and CRE.
Deep knowledge of credit risk drivers, documentary and legal risks, portfolio and balance sheet management, and market/regulatory dynamics.
Experience in structuring credit risk products, restructuring exposures, asset distribution, credit derivatives and asset securitisation.
