Associate Product Development Engineer
to join our team at the Fairburn, GA location. In this role, you will assist in designing new products and processes based on customer performance objectives, working alongside PDEs, technicians, and operations personnel. Responsibilities Prioritize safety by adhering to PPE standards and proactively driving continuous improvement. Assist in the development and refinement of porous plastic components throughout all phases of the product lifecycle—from concept to commercialization. Set up and operate equipment; collaborate with engineers to develop processes for new polymer products. Assist in developing new equipment to optimize production. Create complex prototypes according to customer specifications and provide design feedback to engineers. Design experiments, prepare samples, and test properties of prototypes and materials using analytical tools to assess performance. Document data and statistics to recommend corrective actions that improve quality. Write work instructions and train production teams for successful product manufacturing. Support stage-gate project documentation and scale-up from lab to production. Optimize process parameters for molding plastics using data-driven decisions. Participate in 5S activities to maintain workflow and regulatory compliance. Support team development, learn new skills, and take on additional duties as projects evolve. Uphold company policies and act as a role model for conduct and safety. This position involves over 50% hands-on work in the lab or on the production floor. Qualifications Core Competencies Basic understanding of manufacturing and quality systems; hands-on experience is a plus. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and problem-solving methodologies; coursework or internship experience preferred. Strong interpersonal and communication skills across organizational levels. Analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills with a willingness to learn root cause analysis. Interest in data analysis, quality tools, and statistical process control. Willingness to learn software for solid modeling, statistical analysis, and 3D printing. Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Education and Experience Associates degree, trade school, vocational program, or relevant technical experience. Ability to analyze problems and develop solutions quickly. Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
