Job Description Within AFNA, the Category Buyer will lead the strategic sourcing activities for key categories, as assigned. Key categories include Facility Services, Secondary Packaging, Capex, Utilities and MRO across North and South America. This role will be essential for driving procurement excellence across these categories. It is responsible for developing category sourcing strategies across both regions and being directly responsible for executing these strategies in North America, including day‑to‑day interaction with internal stakeholders and suppliers to ensure an uninterrupted supply of quality goods and services at optimum cost.

Additional Aspects Of The Job Include

Lead strategic sourcing activities for assigned categories of spend, capturing savings through purchasing volume and negotiating TCO contracts with suppliers in support of company objectives

Collaborate and work closely with other parts of the organization to implement Total Cost of Ownership improvement opportunities within the category

Support all activities within the procurement function and regularly report on key procurement metrics

Build relationships with suppliers so as to position Amcor as a preferred customer, and work with site teams to ensure an uninterrupted supply of quality goods at optimum cost

Deliver sustainable business value including: supply assurance, cost, quality, service and innovation in order to meet business need

Collaborate with peers in other Amcor businesses to secure benefits from Amcor’s global scale

Job Dimensions

Contract negotiations, market analysis, project management & implementation, subject matter expertise in value creation for assigned commodities, cost savings documentation and tracking

Travel: 20% - 30%

Scope & Geographical spread: Amcor Flexibles Americas—both North & South America. This role will work closely with colleagues in South America for implementation of strategies.

Principal Accountabilities Strategy Development and Strategy Implementation

Development or contribution to development of the overall procurement strategy and translate the procurement strategy into concrete action plans

Work closely with key stakeholders to develop and implement effective sourcing strategies for the relevant category in order to ensure quality of services and improve value to Amcor

Evaluate market and competitive conditions and use as a basis to review Category strategies and sourcing activities

Work closely with Site Management to ensure that the needs of the Sites are effectively represented in the Procurement Strategies

Manage the supply base across the Categories. Leverage Category spend across regions as appropriate

Monitor integration of Procurement in core business processes

Follow procurement best practices and ensure consistency with all Amcor requirements and standards

Identify trends and/or issues that need improvement within the Category accounts

Assess and manage risks across the Categories while developing and contributing to a risk strategy for the Categories together with mitigating actions

Negotiation

Enhance the relationship with suppliers in an innovative way to maximise value

Manage negotiation process, content and results. Build and lead the negotiation team to deliver the desired outcomes

Relationship Management

Build strong rapport with suppliers and obtain access to supplier senior management

Establish cross‑functional teams to negotiate and implement improved operational and commercial supply outcomes for the business and customers

Collaborate closely with relevant departments to ensure understanding and compliance with procurement strategies

Monitor field compliance to strategy implementation and ensure TCO reductions are realised

Guide relevant departments to the correct supplier relationships that will help ensure maximum value will be delivered to Amcor.

Provide feedback and mentorship to buyers and analysts

Financial Planning

Develop budgets and targets based on aggressive, well founded, realistic and forward oriented goals

Ensure that financial resource allocation is cost‑effective and aligned with strategic and operational plans

Build an accurate forecast for Category price movements

Track and report savings, support procure‑to‑pay process improvement within the Category area, monitor TCO improvement as well as working capital improvement using the tracking tools in place

Provide periodic and ad‑hoc reports and forecasts on performance against plan and potential in following up on

Work with stakeholders to ensure savings are incorporated into annual operating plans

KPIs and reporting on trends

Major Challenges & Complexities

Lead and manage a cross‑functional (cross‑BG if appropriate) team in the negotiation of a particular Category

Develop trust within the businesses so that where there are conflicting priorities or other issues manage these to ensure that all involved understand the issues and agree with the solutions put forward

Develop supplier relationships in a way that encourages open dialogue and encourages cooperation in identifying and implementing win/win situations that add value to both organisations

Develop tactics and strategies that ensure the creation of value for sole‑source commodities

Lead the global relationship for select suppliers

create value in both cost savings & working capital improvement

Knowledge and Experience

2 years of relevant work experience in procurement / strategic sourcing of similar categories

Relevant procurement experience in a manufacturing environment

Experience in market and benchmark analysis at a broad level

Innovation process experience considered advantageous

Excellent negotiation skills, problem solving ability and strategic thinking ability. Excellent communications skills.

Demonstrated category expertise and sourcing/procurement experience

Education and Certifications Bachelors Level Degree Required, Master’s Degree Preferred Job Specific skills and abilities

Experience in the selection of suppliers – inquiry and negotiation

Appropriate application of market analysis tools – industry analysis (Porter model) and supplier analysis – and a demonstrated understanding of the cost drivers in their markets

Experience in the selection, preparation and execution of commercial agreements

Effective leadership / participation in multi functional projects and teams in an international environment

Working knowledge of information and data systems used by Procurement

Procurement technical skills, confirmed capability in key sourcing skills such as industry analysis, negotiation sourcing strategy creation, apply Policy, run Inquiry, and Benchmarking

Basic understanding of supplier quality systems and programs

Create and drive a commodity specific strategy

Develop strong relationships with preferred suppliers

Strategic management of suppliers and overall supply base

Spanish language fluency a plus, but not required

Compensation The starting salary for this position is expected to be between $85,600 to $107,000; however, base pay offered may vary within the full salary range $85,600 to $128,400 depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. Base pay information is based on national averages and a geographic differential may be applied based on work location. Position may also be eligible for Amcor’s Management Incentive Plan / Sales Incentive Plan, which is an annual bonus program based on business and individual performance, as well as medical coverage and other health and welfare benefits.
