American Cruise Lines is seeking Captains for our growing fleet sailing unique itineraries along inland and coastal waterways of the East Coast, Pacific Northwest, Columbia-Snake Rivers, and Mississippi-Ohio-Cumberland Rivers. Our U.S. flag ships are state-of-the-art, designed for safe operation and five-star service to 100-200 guests.
Captains are the senior shipboard officers responsible for safe vessel operations, adherence to company and regulatory standards, and representing the company as professional leaders and examples. Our Captains are master mariners with piloting experience in challenging coastal and river waterways. They are prudent decision-makers, continually assessing potential risks weeks, days, and hours ahead of the vessel and crew. Our Captains are meticulous professionals, serving our guests and setting an example for our crews.

Responsibilities
Ensure safety and security of passengers, crew, and vessel.
Operate vessels safely, adhering to company and regulatory standards.
Perform vessel maneuvering, docking, undocking, and anchoring prudently.
Conduct comprehensive daily inspections of all vessel interior and exterior spaces.
Supervise and develop Mates, Engineers, and Deckhands.
Oversee Hotel Officers and Service Crew to ensure five-star guest service.
Greet guests at the gangway, make safety announcements, and host special dinner events.
Maintain administrative logs, reports, and communications.
Lead efforts to maintain a safe, secure, clean, and comfortable onboard environment for passengers and crew.
Work during the typical March-November season, with 4-6 weeks on and 2-3 weeks off.
Qualifications
U.S. Coast Guard Master’s license: minimum 100T, preferred 1600T or greater.
Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
At least 2 years of Captain experience on coastal and river waterways; 5 years preferred, with Z-drive experience.
Excellent communication and team-building skills.
Pre-employment drug testing and participation in random testing.
