Job Overview
This role requires a hybrid schedule and will be based in our New York Office (Tuesday through Thursday) and work fully remotely on Mondays and Fridays each week.
Lonely Planet is seeking an organized, operational and visually driven individual with a creative and detail oriented approach to their work. The ideal candidate should have experience working in a project manager or production environment, able to work across multiple departments and workflows, be fluent in Asana and across management systems, and bring high creative standards and a passion for photography to the team. This role will report to the Photo Director and oversee workflows between freelancers and staff.
What You’ll Do Contributor and Team Management
Oversee the onboarding and management of freelance image researchers, including Asana calendar management, scheduling and coordinating payment.
Oversee, implement and streamline best practices for contributor and third party onboarding and payroll. Coordinate regularly with our HR and Finance teams.
Establish and maintain clear expectations and deliverables to ensure on-time execution for freelance image researchers and the production team.
Schedule and lead annual meets and refreshers with our freelance team (with assistance from the photo department).
Schedule and manage quarterly checkins and refreshers with anyone touching images at LP (with assistance from the photo department).
Operations and Process Oversight
Track and actualize departmental budgets to ensure real-time visibility of financial needs.
Manage and organize the Photo Department’s Asana in alignment with collaborating teams.
Maintain up-to-date documentation for internal and external communications.
Collaborate closely with Print and Photo editors to troubleshoot logistics, improve workflows and enhance processes.
Cross-Departmental Collaboration
Work closely with Print, Finance and Engineering to track our image usage.
Oversee thumbnail management and tracking for covers.
Liaise with creative internal teams (Editorial, Social, Partnerships) to streamline and maximize production efforts.
What We’re Looking For
4+ years of experience of project management, experience within a photo or creative environment a plus
Knowledge or interest in print and photo production
Deep understanding of organizational and production systems including budgeting, tracking, and invoicing software
Ability to create and manage spreadsheets and Asana boards to coordinate various projects and to stay on top of contributors/vendors/photographers that we’ve hired on projects.
Ability to work and problem solve autonomously with both internal and external stakeholders
Ability to work cross functionally and simultaneously between print, photo, and production teams
Incredible organizational and project management skills, maintaining multiple simultaneous projects
Understanding of and passion for the travel industry is always a bonus
Compensation
Cash Compensation Range: $75,000 - $95,000 per year
Note actual salary is based on geographic location, qualifications, and experience
