Educational and Experience Requirements

HIDTA Intelligence Analyst I:

Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice or a related field. Experience in a law enforcement or analytical field needed or advanced coursework, internship, and/or research in a specialized law enforcement area preferred. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of education.

HIDTA Intelligence Analyst II:

Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice or related field. Three years’ experience in a law enforcement agency or analytical field. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities will be considered.

HIDTA Intelligence Analyst III:

Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice or related field. Five years’ experience in a law enforcement agency or analytical field. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities will be considered.

Nature & Purpose of Position HIDTA Intelligence Analyst I, II & III: Conducts extensive research and multi‑faceted inquiries that involve locating and identifying subjects, vehicles, evidence, and assets using numerous law enforcement networks and commercial databases. Establishes and maintains contact with counterparts in other intelligence organizations to eliminate duplication, enhance professional development, and keep abreast of current trends.

Primary Responsibilities

Conduct extensive research using law enforcement and commercial databases; organize and summarize vast amounts of data; prepare written reports and biographical data sheets; and prepare subpoenas. (Responsibilities may vary with program or area of expertise.)

Organize and disseminate subscriber and toll information; conduct telephone analysis; prepare graphs, charts, PowerPoint presentations and other visual aids; input data into criminal databases and investigative software.

Perform advanced research and give professional presentations for the analyst III role.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Other Specifications

Experience with Python coding.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Ability to multitask and perform in high‑pressure situations.

Ability to obtain and maintain a Top‑Secret security clearance.

Position located in Houston, Texas.

Full Time Temporary

Benefits‑eligible position. Continuation contingent upon continued funding. Funding expected to end by 12/31/2026.
