SouthState Bank . The Commercial Portfolio Manager Team Lead position manages a team of Commercial Portfolio Managers. In addition to leadership and management of a Commercial Portfolio Management team, this role has the primary responsibility of supporting Commercial loan portfolios of one or more Relationship Managers. Analyzes financial information to evaluate the credit worthiness of Commercial loan requests. Compiles Commercial loan packages ensuring completeness and accuracy of information provided. Ensures all Commercial loans are in compliance with State and Federal regulations and Bank policies and procedures. Monitors and services the Commercial loan portfolios of the supported Relationship Managers. Responsible for supervision and delegation of work related to covenant testing and tracking, the loan annual review process and various projects.

Essential Functions The primary functions of the Portfolio Manager Team Lead include:

Manages and leads a team of Portfolio Managers, including training, coaching and developing teammates.

Reviews and decisions Annual Servicing Reviews and other requests within designated loan authority.

Analyzes financial information to evaluate the credit worthiness of new loan requests, renewal loan requests and ongoing Portfolio Management activities in line with Bank policies and procedures.

Completes industry research to support existing and new Customers to the Bank.

Compiles commercial loan packages (non-BL and BLE) ensuring completeness and accuracy of information, including a written credit memo with background information, financial analysis of the Borrower and Guarantors, risk assessment, proper risk grading, and a thoughtful recommendation.

Performs additional credit analysis using advanced tools as needed (e.g., CRE analysis tool).

Guides loan requests through the Credit Approval Process and ensures structure meets client needs and Bank objectives.

Ensures large commercial loan relationships comply with State and Federal regulations and Bank policies.

Monitors and services large commercial loan portfolios through covenant testing, annual servicing reviews, and exception clearance.

Grads risk appropriately and recommends adjustments as circumstances change.

Assists Relationship Manager in presenting credits to Credit Administration or other leaders/Committees.

Ensures all required documentation is in file for all loans and approvals, and helps clear deficiencies.

Occasionally accompanies Relationship Manager on calls with customers as requested.

Builds and maintains positive relationships with internal business partners and external professionals to support the Bank’s image.

Undertakes special projects related to the role as determined by Credit Administration Leadership.

Continuously updates skills through professional training and cross-training offered by the Bank.

Works with Relationship Manager, Credit Administrators and Loan Assistant to minimize past due loans.

Serves as a trusted advisor to clients and prospects within the context of risk management.

Demonstrates commitment to fair lending practices and remains knowledgeable of laws and regulations governing lending activities; complies with all Bank policies and laws.

Maintains positive working relationships with attorneys, appraisers, developers and others to enhance the Bank’s reputation.

Stays informed about Bank products and services and adheres to corporate policies, procedures and regulations.

Follows regulatory requirements including BSA/AML, CIP and OFAC to deter money laundering and unlawful activities.

Qualifications, Education, and Certification

Education: Four-year degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or related field; graduation from a recognized school of banking is a plus or equivalent experience.

Experience: Minimum of five years in commercial banking, business banking and/or portfolio management. Prior management experience is preferred.

Certifications/Knowledge: Knowledge of accounting and lending principles; excellent oral and written communication; strong understanding of Federal and State lending regulations and Bank lending procedures.

Training and Physical Requirements Required annual compliance training; New Employee Orientation.

Physical demands include extensive time at a computer, with the ability to sit or stand, and occasional bending and reaching.

Work Environment Telecommuting roles require a secure home office with a reliable internet connection. Travel may be required for meetings.
