Project Manager – Upstream Oil & Gas
Job Description and Qualifications
J H Operating Company, LLC, an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management firm supporting the upstream and midstream oil and gas industry, has an opening for a Project Manager located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
The Project Manager will manage projects from concept to commissioning, monitoring safety, quality, schedule, spending, profitability, and documentation. They will act as the primary point of contact with clients, vendors, contractors, and third‑party service providers, and will identify corrective measures as needed to ensure project success.
This role supports capital industrial infrastructure projects such as multi‑well production facilities, large central gathering stations, oil terminals, pipelines, and saltwater disposals.
Responsibilities
Make the team more efficient by creating capacity for other departments to focus on technical priorities, while ensuring all projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet high quality standards.
Create, maintain, and monitor project plans, schedules, budgets, and expenditures.
Work directly with engineering, design, and construction management teams.
Gather project requirements, develop designs to meet client needs, manage procurement, create project deliverables, and select and manage third‑party service providers.
Be familiar with applicable industry standards and recommended practices.
Perform general project management tasks: cost estimation, timeline and work estimation, project logistics, vendor management, client engagement, status meetings, and continuous improvement communication.
Assist the Engineering team with cost tracking and forecasting, RFP evaluation, procurement and change orders, pre‑construction scheduling, and document control.
Ensure projects adhere to company processes and procedures, and that all documentation is appropriately maintained.
Treat all clients with respect and professionalism at all times.
Understand and manage personal performance to promote teamwork and culture, and enhance customer satisfaction.
Maintain confidentiality of all company and client information.
Non‑Technical Responsibilities

Qualifications
B.S. in an Engineering discipline from an accredited university.
5+ years of upstream oil and gas engineering or project management experience.
10+ years of industry experience.
Familiarity with electrical, mechanical, process, piping design, project controls, procurement, fabrication, and construction disciplines.
Ability to understand and interpret P&IDs.
Competency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
Strong research and analytical skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to respond positively to the needs of clients, management, and colleagues.
Proactive ownership of tasks.
Exemplary references.
Ability to pass an in‑depth drug screening.
Qualify for a motor vehicle license.
