2nd Shift Toppings Production Supervisor
Base pay range
$70,000.00/yr - $85,000.00/yr
Job Summary The production supervisor is a hands‑on leader responsible for safety, quality, cost, and morale across multiple lines on a single shift. This position reports to the Production Manager and requires at least 80% time on the production floor, with willingness to work extended hours in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment. The ideal candidate will possess demonstrated skills and experience in both manufacturing and technical leadership.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Model a safety‑first mindset and lead with relentless drive to eliminate risk in all aspects of operations.
Championship of quality, ensuring QA principles are never compromised, and actively participate in quality audits (SQF, USDA, FDA, Organic, customer audits).
Maintain strong floor presence, spending >80% of shift on the floor, supporting employees and providing direction.
Lead daily shift meetings, S.I.C. meetings, safety and quality audits.
Support continuous improvement initiatives, improve line performance and close gaps.
Train and develop employees to ensure continued factory growth and reduce operator error.
Maintain a positive work environment that promotes safety, housekeeping, and human relations.
Ensure adherence to federal, state, local laws, corporate policies, and facility policies.
Support R&D and QA line trials of new products or special runs.
Coordinate with maintenance for set‑up or repairs, creating work requests in the CMMS promptly.
Follow and enforce all company policies and procedures.
Utilize time‑keeping software to create employee schedules, approve time‑cards and PTO requests promptly.
Continuously monitor line performance to ensure products meet/exceed customer quality expectations, GMP guidelines, and that the line is staffed per budget without compromising GMP.
Ensure direct reports complete the monthly safety training in a timely manner.
Complete EOS reports accurately and timely, update visual boards, and keep DT system current.
Promote safety standards, record and investigate incidents and near‑misses, and use root‑cause analysis to prevent future accidents.
Monitor changeovers, set‑up, and teardown for safety and timeliness.
All staff are responsible for GMP, food safety, and plant safety compliance.
Other responsibilities as assigned by management.
Qualifications and Requirements
Supervisory experience in a food manufacturing setting (required).
Over 3 years of experience in a management or supervisory role.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred but not required.
Experience leading root‑cause analysis exercises.
Bilingual a plus.
Experience with Microsoft Word.
Experience with GMP and quality/hygiene requirements common to food manufacturing.
Experience leading employees in a food production environment.
Strong management, leadership, organizational, and scheduling skills.
Experience working in a production environment with USDA, FDA and other regulated products.
Positive attitude and ability to work in a team.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Ability to handle stressful situations.
Willingness to work long hours and weekends as required.
Physical Demands
Work in a cold environment.
Must wear required PPE.
Lift up to 50 lbs.
Navigate equipment (bend, stoop, reach above head).
Stand for up to 8 hours per shift.
Work Environment This position is primarily on the manufacturing floor with variable temperature and loud noises from machinery, alongside office duties with controlled lighting. Additional safety measures may be required to ensure safe completion of tasks.
