We are seeking a highly skilled Quality Control Engineer to join our team at the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, VA. This role is critical to ensuring the successful execution of federal construction projects, with a strong emphasis on mechanical and electrical systems. The QC Engineer will report directly to the Site Manager and be responsible for implementing quality control processes, conducting inspections, and ensuring compliance with U.S. Government contract requirements and industry standards.
Base Pay Range $130,000.00/yr - $160,000.00/yr
Required Skills & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 8 years of experience in quality control, with at least 5 years on large federal projects focused on mechanical and electrical systems.
Prior experience with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) / Navy Facility Construction (NAVFAC) projects.
Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 and USACE CQM 3‑phase inspection process.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Master’s degree in a related field.
HVAC certification.
Experience with RMS and federal submittal processes.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Systems Implementation: Develop and implement quality control procedures, inspection standards, and documentation systems to ensure compliance with contract specifications and industry best practices.
MEP Inspections & Testing: Conduct detailed inspections and tests of mechanical and electrical equipment and installations, including HVAC, BAS, and electrical systems.
Data Analysis & Reporting: Collect, analyze, and report quality‑related data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
Problem Solving & Troubleshooting: Collaborate with project teams to investigate quality issues, determine root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Compliance Assurance: Ensure all work complies with RFPs, contract drawings, submittals, and applicable codes and standards, including USACE and NAVFAC requirements.
Submittal Management: Review and manage submittals from subcontractors, ensuring timely submission to the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ). Familiarity with RMS is preferred.
Training & Documentation: Train team members on quality control procedures and maintain accurate documentation of inspections and quality systems.
Technical Expertise: Interpret technical documents and specifications, and utilize inspection tools effectively. Experience with test automation and BAS systems is a plus.
Compensation Compensation: $130,000 - $160,000
