Airport Operations Representative III - Landside
role at
City of Atlanta . Provides supervision and direction to the Airport Operations Representatives II of the Airport Operations Division – Landside Team. Manages staff, monitors safety and airport operations, and directs short and long range operations strategies to maintain the safety and security of the airport. Conducts facility and roadway audits, monitors construction projects, and reports on status. May assume responsibility for the business unit in the absence of the Assistant Operations Director. Responsibilities
Supervises and evaluates staff and ensures assignments are completed within standards. Counsels staff regarding individual performance and plans developmental activities as needed. May supervise other non-DOA staff (e.g., Guest Relations) providing support to the airport. Responds to emergencies and coordinates their resolution while providing updates to executive staff. Must be adaptable to performing under minimal stress when confronted with an emergency. Assists within the Airport’s Incident Command Structure. Responsible for decisions that stabilize the situation, affect life safety, and preserve property. Plans, organizes and directs the daily activities of the Operations staff. Assigns staff according to daily need. Develops and modifies work schedules to ensure adequate shift coverage. Develops recovery efforts and activities to return the Airport back to normal operations. Communicates effectively and exchanges information in a professional and positive manner with customers, tenants, airport employees and other staff members. Interacts with federal, state and local agencies concerning operational procedures and initiatives. Works with TSA on a daily basis to ensure the safe and efficient movement of passengers through the airport’s security checkpoints. Provides operational expertise and maintains positive relationships with other departments and airport stakeholders. Performs daily checks of the airport’s terminals, concourses, parking lots, curbsides, airport access roadways and other facilities. Prepares and presents various reports and documents including daily logs and reports for incidents, complaints, maintenance requests and regulatory compliance issues. Determines training needs for individuals assigned to shift of responsibility. Provides on-the-job, classroom, and team training opportunities. Assists with the management of several airport contracts. Prepares a variety of reports and documents to meet requirements of security directives. Works rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and may be subject to holdover and recall for emergencies, including inclement weather. Administrative duties; reviews daily reports, logs, and forms for accuracy; monitors supplies and equipment; attends airport-related meetings and seminars as necessary; keeps abreast of regulations and safety/compliance requirements; ensures departmental plans and SOGs remain current. Record keeping and documentation: ensures records of all incidents occurring in each shift are maintained. Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in Aviation Management, Business Management, Business/Public Administration or a closely related field. Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in Airport Operations with extensive interaction with the general public. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge and a U.S. Customs and Border Protection Seal. Preferred Education & Experience
Master’s degree in aviation administration, business administration or related field and five (5) years in Airport Operations management in an airport of medium to large size. Completion of NIMS ICS core courses and experience participating in an Incident Management System during emergencies is preferred. Certification as an Accredited Airport Executive (A.A.E.) or a Certified Member (C.M.) with the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE). Licensures and Certifications
Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license at the time of application. A valid Georgia driver’s license must be presented for verification at the time of appointment.
