Overview

The Pleasant Valley Recreation & Park District is seeking a hardworking and motivated individual to join our Parks Department. This full-time, entry-level Grounds/Facilities I position maintains parks, sports fields, and community spaces. The role requires outdoor work in all weather and a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, and some holidays. Responsibilities

Perform general grounds and landscape maintenance: mowing, edging, watering, weeding, fertilizing, sodding, raking, cultivating; maintain flowers and shrubs; spray pesticides/herbicides as assigned; ball field prep; hand-water infields as needed. Operate and maintain equipment and power tools; conduct inspections and preventive maintenance; assist with minor repairs. Maintain cleanliness of District buildings: trash removal, cleaning offices, windows, restrooms; floor care; carpet cleaning. Perform maintenance on park facilities including touch-up painting, minor carpentry, plumbing, and related repairs. Operate light to medium motorized turf equipment; tow trailers; assist in preparing and leveling brick dust fields; perform minor equipment repairs. Ensure safety of park facilities, including playgrounds, fields, and buildings; conduct field safety checks and address issues. Line in-fields, replace bases and equipment as needed, and perform basic field maintenance and safety checks. Remove litter and perform general grounds housekeeping; inspect and clean restrooms. Qualifications

Ability to work outdoors in varying weather; perform routine maintenance tasks on buildings, grounds, and equipment; flexible hours as assigned. Ability to understand and follow written, oral, or diagram instructions; establish effective working relations; read safety rules and manuals. Education/Experience: Must be 18+ with a high school diploma or GED; six months related experience or training preferred (Level I); or three years of experience as Grounds/Facilities I (Level II); or equivalent combination. Licenses: Valid California Driver’s License with clean DMV record; may drive District vehicle. Certifications: CPR and First Aid required within six months; TB testing, drug/alcohol screening, and fingerprint clearance/background check required. Physical Demands

Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, lifting up to 25–100 pounds as required; good hand-eye coordination; vision and hearing requirements. Work environment may expose to chemicals, heat, cold, inclement weather, and loud noises; possible overtime for events. Additional Information
