Full Time Responsibilities
Monitor compliance and accuracy of special education documentation and procedures aligned with TEA State and Federal regulations. Provide campus support on assigned level (secondary or elementary), serving as a contact between campuses and the special education department. Facilitate Annual, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) meetings and completion of required ARD paperwork. Monitor implementation of IEPs and communicate with parents and staff. Schedule ARD meetings, establish agendas, time allotments, and meeting guidelines. Lead ARD committee discussions to promote participation, resolve disagreements, and keep the committee on task; ensure federal and state timelines are met. Maintain systematic communication between special and general education staff regarding ARD meetings, IEPs, student accommodations, and progress. Support student achievement by ensuring delivery of special education curriculum and instruction per IEP; coach staff on inclusion and monitor inclusion schedules and Life Skills classrooms. Monitor student progress and use findings to improve program effectiveness; propose and implement changes as needed. Collaborate with teachers to address achievement deficiencies and promote innovative instructional programs. Assist in the referral process for special education evaluation and attend RtI/MTSS meetings when referrals are considered. Monitor instructional processes to ensure alignment with IEP outcomes. Support student management policies related to the special education program; assist in scheduling and conducting Manifestation Determination Reviews (MDR). Provide coaching, technical assistance, and orientation to staff on ARD procedures. Deliver professional development on a range of special education topics. Establish and maintain positive relationships with principals, teachers, staff, and parents; serve as parent liaison for assessments, eligibility, and IEPs. Articulate the district’s mission and goals in special education and seek community support. Compile, maintain, and file reports and documents as required; comply with federal/state laws and local policies; make recommendations to improve program effectiveness. Qualifications
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree; Valid Texas teaching certificate in Special Education. Master’s Degree preferred. Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of identification, testing, teaching, and progress monitoring of students; understanding of state and federal laws for educating students with disabilities; ability to communicate with parents and staff; ability to implement policies and interpret data; strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; commitment to collaboration and professional learning communities; ability to work with students, parents, administrators, and teachers at all grade levels. Experience:
5 years of successful teaching experience preferred. Salary and Benefits
