UAB Center for the Arts presents and hosts many live concerts, theatre productions, and events. This position supports these activities. The Production Stage Manager Multi‑Disciplinary will have expertise and serves as a lead in one or more of the following theatrical production disciplines: stage management, audio, lighting, video, scenic and/or rigging.
This role is responsible for overseeing stage operations, including setup, production, and strike. It manages stagehands, over‑hire staff, and technical crew, ensuring smooth stage operations and effective coordination. The manager assists with stage setup and production, equipment needs, and provides general technology support.
Responsibilities
Oversee all aspects of stage operations, including managing rehearsals, performances, lectures, and various events.
Coordinate between backstage teams, front‑of‑house staff, and clients while supervising technical crews involved in set‑up, operation, and strike.
Ensure the safety and functionality of scenic elements and rigging systems.
Maintain high‑quality technical standards, manage over‑hire staff, and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
$22.00 – $26.00 per hour
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Technical Theatre, Music, Productions, Live Entertainment, or a related field and at least three (3) years of related experience. Work experience may substitute for education.
OSHA 10‑hour General Industry certification preferred.
