Job Description
Join CDM Smith in either our Nashville or Knoxville offices and make a difference while working with a fantastic team supporting state and municipal highway design projects and project delivery throughout Tennessee and the Southeast region.
Responsibilities
Perform interchange/highway design, roadway widening, roundabout/superstreet design, and low‑impact bridge replacement; produce construction bid plans and documents, write roadway design reports, prepare construction cost estimates and design specifications, and coordinate with clients.
Provide technical guidance and training to junior staff and review their work.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil, Transportation, Structural Engineering, or related discipline.
Professional Engineering (PE) license.
Seven years of related experience (or equivalent directly related experience considered).
Domestic and/or international travel may be required (up to 5%).
Skills and Abilities
Familiarity with TDOT roadway design; municipal roadway design is a plus.
Strong preference for candidates with OpenRoads experience.
Experience with Microstation and corridor modeling.
Experience developing construction bid documents for TDOT and/or municipalities.
Technical writing experience, including project special provisions, design reports, functional design reports, and technical memorandums.
