Description Position Summary: Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch Therapeutic Youth Mentor provides direct support, guidance, and mentoring to help youth develop coping skills, improve communication, and build positive relationships. Therapeutic youth mentors are role models that facilitate activities and work collaboratively with other team members to assist youth in reaching their goals. Starting Salary Range:
$16.19 - $18.22 per hour. Salary reflects steps 1-5 of an 11-step pay schedule. The starting salary will be determined based on the applicant’s education and relevant experience. Responsibilities
Demonstrate strong interpersonal and customer service skills and ability to engage a diverse group of participants. Demonstrate the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks concurrently. Ability to exercise and model good judgment, teamwork, and professionalism, especially in crisis situations and creative about finding solutions for them. Collaborate with teams, supervisors, educators, community partners and families to develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans and supporting youth’s complex needs. Create and conduct necessary documentation accurately and able maintain documentation expectations in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). Qualifications
21 years old or older Criminal / Child Abuse Clearance: Must pass criminal record and child abuse registry background check as required by the State of Montana. High School Diploma or GED Driver’s License to operate passenger vehicle Required Abilities / Skills
Ability to relate and build rapport with youth therapeutically while serving as a positive role model. Knowledge of and ability to maintain professional therapeutic boundaries and confidentiality with youth and families. Ability to work with youth in multiple settings, such as individually and in groups. Ability to work in cooperation and collaboration with the treatment team. Ability to work 1:1 with youth, independent of other co-workers. Display regular, predictable, and reliable attendance at work. Excellent active listening skills Ability to type at least 35 words per minute in an Electronic Medical Health Record System; familiarity with Microsoft Office 365 products is a plus. Sound and ethical judgment and decision-making skills. Self-motivated, self-disciplined, and forward-thinking. Ability to think of the team over self and define success collectively. Effective interaction and communication with others to build and maintain relationships, resolve conflicts, and navigate social situations.
