WHO WE ARE

The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) is looking for an Investigator II to join the Central Texas Unemployment Insurance (UI) Tele-Center. This position is located at the Central Texas Tele-Center in San Antonio. Applicants should demonstrate they enthusiastically share our department’s E.P.I.C. vision and values in a positive, high-paced, and energetic team environment. This position has a work schedule that requires to report to the office located at 4801 NW Loop 410, San Antonio, Texas, M-F 8:00 - 5:00. The ideal candidate will have professional communication skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities while meeting strict deadlines in a Tele-Center atmosphere. WHAT YOU WILL DO

The Investigator II performs entry-level to routine (journey-level) unemployment insurance investigative work. Work involves conducting investigations. Works under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. YOU WILL BE TRUSTED TO

Review and process unemployment insurance claims and related documents by interpreting and applying all Unemployment Insurance laws, Appeals policy and precedents, Benefits Letters, and Commission resources. Interview claimants and employers to gather facts on claims being investigated. Enter fact-finding information into the mainframe computer system while simultaneously interviewing individuals. Make determinations on claims regarding the payment of unemployment insurance to claimants and the liability of employers for reimbursement, and determine payment accuracy, recommending overpayment collection or fraud prosecution as appropriate. Review requests from claimants for additional wages and deletions of wages. Document reason for accepting one set of facts over another in the determination's rationale. Provide information on unemployment insurance claims provisions, processes, and requirements to claimants and employers. Check wage data for unreported earnings and investigate improper payments. Provide information about the appeal process to claimants. YOU QUALIFY WITH

Six months of full-time experience performing auditing or investigating work; or unemployment insurance claims examiner tasks; or gathering of information, interviewing, counseling, or in the instruction, demonstration, and interpretation of policies in a public or private enterprise. Relevant academic credits may be applied toward experience qualifications for this position. Acceptance into a TWC Internship or TWC Apprenticeship will satisfy the minimum qualifications. Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university. Able to handle multiple priorities with frequent interruptions. Experience working unemployment cases (separation or non-separation). Attention to detail and accuracy. Recent experience with the UI program and UI Benefits System. Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Bilingual; English/Spanish. YOU GAIN

WORK SHIFT

Works 40 hours a week during hours of operations Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, occasional overtime evenings, weekends, and holiday work may be required. Management will set schedule. A skills test and/or written exercise will be required at the time of interview. A criminal background investigation will be conducted on the final candidates for the job. Position involves lifting and carrying up to 15 pounds of job-related materials.
