Job Summary The Graduate Assistant oversees the Richards College social media platforms and helps plan events. The graduate student will complete tasks with limited oversight. This position works closely with the Director of Marketing & Events to:

Support, plan, and execute social media plans (60%)

Help to engage and connect with students through all of the social media platforms

Create visually-compelling designs

Write stories and press releases

Work on project assignments using good design principles and typography

Organize photo shoots

Help update brochures and newsletters

Adhere to university guidelines for communications and marketing

Work with campus partners to increase efficiencies (20%)

Serve as an educator to departments for marketing standards

Work with Univ Communications & Marketing to streamline communication for marketing requests and approvals

Event support (20%)

Assist with the planning, reservations, set-up and break down of events

Attend and assist with university and departmental events, showcase days and Alumni events

Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Earned a Bachelor’s degree.

Have applied for and been accepted to a graduate degree program of study at UWG (provisional acceptance is not sufficient).

Hold a graduate GPA of 3.0 or higher

Possess strong computer skills (PowerPoint, Excel, Word)

Display strong writing and grammar skills

Ability to maintain strict confidentiality

Meet the requirements to be eligible for employment in the US.

Preferred Qualifications

Enrolled in a Richards College graduate program

Working and demonstrated knowledge of Graphic Design (InDesign, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, other).
