About the Position Support the management and duties of store operations to meet financial and sales goals. Build associate and customer relations and promote a strong culture in support of Food Lion Strategy. Maintain solid communications with the management team, all associates in the store and throughout the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities

Manage the Deli Bakery HMS Department in the absence of the Deli Manager, supervising all duties and responsibilities of Deli Bakery HMS associates.

Daily management of labor (expected live) and coaching associates to achieve productivity expectations.

Provide leadership and motivate the store to promote a culture reflective of our Brand Strategy and Culture.

Support the achievement of budgeted financial and operating results.

Smile and maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with a primary emphasis on fast, easy, flexible, and friendly customer service, creating a positive shopping experience for customers.

Role model outstanding, friendly customer service and use skills and knowledge of department products to offer solutions that meet or exceed customers' expectations.

Control store's expenses through proper ordering, care of supplies and equipment.

Utilize company tools such as financial reports, ACIS, scheduling, productivity, ordering (CAO), and business information systems. Understand and use the Average Cost Inventory System (ACIS).

Ensure department appearance, quality, variety, workplace safety, food safety, and sanitation are consistently maintained.

Ensure Deli Bakery HMS schedules are written to provide extraordinary customer service at all times.

Ensure ordering, receiving, preparation, conditioning, and displaying of merchandise complies with policies and guidelines.

Observe and correct unsafe conditions that could cause associate or customer accidents.

Ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations.

Record and report all associate and customer accidents per Food Lion procedures.

Monitor shrink to keep inventory accountable; coach associates to prevent losses.

Ensure all advertising and sales promotion materials for the Deli Bakery HMS are properly utilized.

Adhere to all company guidelines, policies, and standard practices.

Maintain security standards.

Maintain a neat, well-groomed personal appearance at all times; comply with company dress code.

Successfully complete Computer-Based Training (CBT), Training Packet, and Training Aid courses.

Meet the physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

Perform any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High school graduate or equivalent preferred.

Ability to lead and manage a team.

Strong understanding of store operations and merchandising techniques preferred.

Effective communication, customer service, and selling skills.

Ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job.

Ability to use technical information to solve problems.

Must meet minimum age requirements to perform specific job functions.

Must be accredited by the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals or a similar organization as a "Certified Food Safety Manager," or will attend company-provided training and obtain accreditation within the first 90 days; accreditation must be maintained while employed.

Physical Requirements

Use computers and other communication systems required to perform job functions.

Push or pull up to 2000 pounds using a pallet jack.

Bend and lift products up to 15 lbs. continuously, 25 lbs. frequently, and 50 lbs. occasionally.

Pull or push up to 75 lbs. occasionally.

Stand 100% of the time with frequent short-distance walking.

Handle substances associated with cleaning and packaging materials, and household cleaners.

Perform repetitive hand and arm motions.

Frequent reaching and grasping at waist level or occasionally above shoulder or below waist level.

Meet established volume-activity standards for the position.

Tolerate extreme hot/cold temperatures for up to 20 minutes at a time.

Maintain sufficient visual ability to check invoices and other written documents.
