Overview
Fairfield Inn & Suites is hiring a Front Desk Associate for the Fresno, CA location. The Front Desk Associate represents the hotel to the guest throughout all stages of the guest's stay. They determine a guest's reservation status, assist with registration, assign rooms, accommodate special requests, verify payment methods, and follow established credit-checking procedures. They communicate guest and room information to appropriate hotel personnel, work with housekeeping to keep room status up to date, coordinate maintenance requests, and manage front desk operations including key storage and access to safety deposits. The role is sales-minded and involves presenting options to guests and assisting in making choices. Knowledge of room types and property services is required. Responsibilities
Registers guests and assigns rooms. Accommodates special requests whenever possible. Assists in pre-registration and blocking of rooms for reservations. Adheres to proper credit, check-cashing, and cash-handling policies and procedures. Maintains understanding of room status and room status tracking. Knows room locations, types of rooms available, and room rates. Uses suggestive selling techniques to sell rooms and promote other hotel services. Coordinates room status updates with housekeeping, including check-outs, late check-outs, early check-ins, special requests, and part-day rooms. Understands reservations processes, takes same-day and future reservations, and knows cancellation procedures. Files room keys and uses front office equipment. Processes guest check-outs and posts charges to guest, master, and city ledger accounts. Follows procedures for issuing and closing safe deposit boxes and maintains telephone etiquette. Handles mail, packages, and messages according to procedures. Reads pass-on log and attends daily activities and meetings. Coordinates guest room maintenance with engineering and maintenance divisions. Reports unusual occurrences or requests to the manager or assistant manager. Maintains front desk cleanliness and neatness; understands shift flexibility due to business needs. Processes reservations according to policy and adheres to brand standards. Performs any additional duties as assigned by supervisor. Qualifications & Requirements
Must have the ability to lift, bend, and stand for extended periods; may lift and carry up to 40 pounds. Finger dexterity, grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, hearing, and visual acuity required. High school diploma or equivalent. Good communication skills; Spanish speaking skills are a plus. Team-oriented with a commitment to providing excellent service and maintaining brand standards. Each team member is viewed as a salesperson for the property. Ability to work any day of the week, including weekends and holidays. Personal vehicle use for business may be required. Experience
