Position Overview
Associate‑Level Crisis Social Worker provides mobile crisis support and case management services to Chaffey College students under the supervision of the Director of Social Wellness and Behavioral Support.

Responsibilities
Crisis Response and Clinical Consultation (45%)
Provide crisis support to students experiencing acute psychological distress on campus, including de‑escalation, safety planning, and clinical consultation under supervision.
Conduct risk assessments and participate in campus‑based crisis intervention efforts, including collaboration with Campus Police when appropriate.
Collaborate with Campus Police to respond to mental health crises involving non‑student community members, ensuring appropriate stabilization and referral to external services.
Support clinical teammates during peak periods and contribute to coordinated response protocols.
Clinical Coordination and Case Management (35%)
Conduct initial assessments and provide short‑term case management for students in distress, under guidance from the Director of Social Wellness and Behavioral Support.
Coordinate student care by facilitating referrals to appropriate campus departments (EOPS, Panther Care, Student Health Services, Counseling, Academic Advising, DPS, etc.) and community resources.
Monitor student progress to ensure continuity of care, including re‑entry support for students returning from hospitalization or leaves of absence.
Maintain strong working relationships with academic departments, student support programs, and external partners.
Participate in weekly clinical consultation meetings and share updates on high‑priority student cases.
Case manage and provide counseling to referrals for students exhibiting high‑risk behaviors from Student Discipline / Student Affairs.
Report updates on high‑risk cases at the Chaffey Connects weekly meetings.
Training, Outreach, and Consultation (15%)
Assist in preparing and delivering educational presentations and mental health training to faculty, staff, and student groups.
Serve as a point of contact and consultation for staff who encounter distressed students; support faculty and staff in making referrals to Chaffey Connects.
Support the planning and implementation of wellness events, tabling, and classroom presentations.
Documentation & Compliance (5%)
Document all case management activities and crisis interventions in a secure electronic health record system, following FERPA, HIPAA, and campus guidelines.
Maintain accurate records for outcome tracking and program evaluation.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field.
Registered as an Associate with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) and hold an active Associate license number.
Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques and mental health referral systems.
Demonstrated evidence of sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds in a community college environment.
Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment with supervision.
Desirable Qualifications
At least two years’ experience providing direct support or crisis response in a college or community mental health setting.
Familiarity with community mental health systems, voluntary and involuntary hospitalization processes, and coordinated care.
Bilingual in Spanish or another language prevalent among Chaffey students.
Familiarity with restorative practices, trauma‑informed care, and DEI principles in student support work.
Special Conditions
This position requires the ability to travel to various campus locations.
Must demonstrate the ability to remain composed under pressure and provide effective support to students in acute distress or crisis situations.
Location: Chaffey College Campuses (Chino, Fontana, Rancho).
Conditions of Employment This is a 12‑month, full‑time temporary professional expert position. Continued employment is contingent upon approval of the Chaffey College Governing Board. Effective date of employment will be as soon as a successful candidate is selected and a mutually agreed upon date is determined. The monthly salary is $6,250. Excellent benefits include health care, dental program, vision services, and retirement coverage through the California Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS).
