Eskenazi Health serves as the public hospital division of the Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County. Physicians provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services at the 327-bed hospital and outpatient facilities both on and off of the Eskenazi Health downtown campus as well as at 10 Eskenazi Health Center sites located throughout Indianapolis.

Job Role Summary The DME Administrative Specialist provides (or arranges access to) durable medical equipment, orthotic and prosthetic devices, respiratory and other home medical equipment for patients of Eskenazi Health.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Proactively contributes to Eskenazi Health's mission: Advocate, Care, Teach and Serve with special emphasis on the vulnerable population of Marion County. Models Eskenazi Health's values
Provides (or arranges access to) durable medical equipment, orthotic and prosthetic devices, respiratory and other home medical equipment for patients of Eskenazi Health
Information retrieval, record keeping, providing customer service, dispensing equipment and supplies, and managing the DME Store inventory/stockroom
Operates the DME Store independently in the absence of the DME Manager
Excellent communications skills required for customer service and education regarding reimbursement and use of equipment
Ability to work with physicians to clarify orders and obtain complete required paperwork
Provides information to hospital staff regarding products and reimbursement/regulations
Communicates effectively with vendor & departmental contacts
Manages store inventory to assure equipment and supplies on formulary are available
Reviews intake paperwork for accuracy, completes documentation, schedules appointments
Utilizes hospital systems to retrieve necessary supporting documentation, i.e. certificates of medical necessity, prior approvals, insurance verification, etc.
Enters charges into hospital system (Advanced MD)
Manages cash collections/cash registers effectively
Tracks equipment issued to patients
Communicates orders to vendors for both home and hospital delivery
Educates Eskenazi Health staff on payer requirements, documentation and reimbursement issues
Keeps up to date in DME reimbursement and coding regulations
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in business/office management (or comparable experience in healthcare reimbursement).
Minimum of one year of business or office management experience
DME billing and coding continuing education
