SALARY:
The salary range for this position is $72,391.16 to $112,819.59 for Schedule A, and $72,391.16 to $107,178.61 for Schedule B. For newly hired individuals, the starting salary will normally be at the minimum of the salary range. For current Judiciary employees, salary upon promotion or advancement will be an increase of 5% of base salary, not to exceed the maximum of the range, or the minimum salary of the band/level, whichever is greater. Judiciary employees hired prior to June 3, 2014, are considered Schedule A. Newly hired individuals, and Judiciary employees hired on or after June 3, 2014, are considered Schedule B. The Judiciary offers a strong opportunity for growth. REMOTE WORK : The Judiciary currently offers a hybrid work schedule, and this position may qualify for up to 2 days of remote work outside of Judiciary buildings. To participate in this program, you will be required to have high speed home internet access. The Hudson Vicinage is seeking a conscientious professional who possesses strong interpersonal, communication, analytical and writing skills to join the Family Division. Under the general direction of the Family Division Manager and/or other supervisory personnel, the selected candidate should be able to make sound, well informed and objective decisions and communicate effectively. The primary functions/duties of this position may include, but are not limited to, serving as a Child Support Hearing Officer and backup mediator, juvenile referee, domestic violence hearing officer and facilitator of various Family Division programs, including the FM Parent Education Program, the FM Matrimonial Early Settlement Panel (MESP) program, the FD Education Program, the supervised parenting program, and consent conferences, all of which may entail both in-person matters and virtual appearances; conduct hearings on child support applications; taking testimony and establishing a record; make findings of fact and case recommendations; draft comprehensive, case specific reports when necessary; train employees in areas of judiciary policies or procedures; suggest improvements in work unit operations; inform individuals of their rights, entitlements or available services; collect/maintain case statistics to generate status reports; operate audio/video equipment; analyze cases in accordance with existing laws, regulations or professional practices; establish workflow systems or procedures; plan implementation of projects/programs; keep abreast of current trends, laws and rules; provide information to judges, attorneys and litigants; participate in team and work unit meetings; perform other related duties as required. Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in behavioral or social science, as specified in the Domestic Violence Hearing Officer Program Standards and five years of professional experience including three years of experience in the areas of domestic violence or family crisis. Substitution: Admission to the NJ Bar and one year of experience in family law, which shall include work involving domestic violence, may be substituted for one year of the required experience. Driver's License: Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle is necessary to perform essential duties of the position. Authorization to Work: US citizenship is not required. Selected candidate must be authorized to work in the US according to Department of Homeland Security, US Citizenship and Immigration Services regulations. Special Note: Newly hired employees must agree to a thorough background check that will include fingerprinting. All data received will be kept in strict confidence except to inform the individual of the findings and what action will be taken as a result of this information. Residency Law: Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 52:14-7 (L. 2011, Chapter 70), also known as the "New Jersey First Act," all persons newly hired by the Judiciary must establish, and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey.
