Position Description National Legal Aid & Defender Association seeks a Temporary Full-time Paralegal to provide high quality administrative and legal support for client representation and litigation cases. The majority of the Paralegal’s time will be focused on telephone calls to class action members and the documentation of those calls.
National Legal Aid & Defender Association is a nationally recognized nonprofit law firm that engages in systemic advocacy and impact litigation to advance the health, economic, and educational wellbeing of New Mexico’s families. We partner with communities across New Mexico, including immigrant and Native American communities, to provide advocacy and representation through the courts, the legislature and administrative agencies, community education, and media. NMCLP prioritizes education, housing, food and health justice, public benefits and workers’ rights, among other issues.
Responsibilities
Contact a database of at least 200 settlement class members and manage contact lists and the documentation of client interactions.
Contact and interview agricultural workers as time allows.
Assist with other paralegal assignments, such as conducting factual investigations, performing legal research, editing and filing pleadings and other legal documents, organizing and analyzing documents, preparing evidence, and investigating and developing cases and projects.
The position reports to the Director of the Workers’ Rights team. The typical salary range for this position is $55,295 to $77,000, commensurate with experience.
