For more than 40 years Three Z Printing has been a leading print provider to the publishing industry, specializing in inserts, direct mail and ads. Our customers rely on us to provide high quality printing, personal service, affordable pricing, and fast, efficient delivery. Responsibilities
Prepares for upcoming jobs by ordering paper, picking up correct ink from ink room, and having paper roll ready to minimize downtime for setup. Reviews job tickets and selects the proper type and quantity of paper. Loads and unloads paper and inspects paper for defects or damage. Reports any paper damage or deficiencies to the press operator. Assists with press start-up and moves controls to regulate tension on rolls, to synchronize speed of press. Assists operator with press setup, makes splices, bends plates and assists with webbing up press. Helps operator on make ready. Cuts off in the correct spot, uses web guides, performs perf or score, and supports quicker make ready and reduced waste. Moves loads of printed and unprinted stock when necessary. Obtains proper ink from ink room and fills ink fountains; maintains proper ink levels at all times. Ensures correct solutions are in color-coded bottles; fills each day before end of shift. Inspects sheets to ensure quality standards are met and reports quality issues to the operator. Corrects jobs that are out of specifications when required. Changes paper bands on inline banding machines when needed. Rotates to other departments as needed. Keeps press areas clean and organized; ensures a safe and productive work environment; cleans machines before and after each job. Assists in troubleshooting and correcting printing press issues. Communicates at shift start-up and end about job on the press, paper, ink, etc. Ensures timely and accurate completion of forms and quality checks for each job. Operates or assists on other pressroom equipment and presses as needed. Supports pre-press and bindery processes when interaction is required for job production. Assists with preventive maintenance on the press, including lubrication and small part replacement. Empties waste/scrap receptacles. Participates in press assessment and logs problems or potential problems as needed. Provides assistance to co-workers to reduce downtime and improve productivity. Follows all safety regulations and adheres to confidentiality, security, and ethical conduct policies. Stays at the press unless approved to leave, and communicates the reason if blcoked from staying. Other duties as assigned. Knowledge & Skills
Understands and follows detailed oral and written instructions. Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to read job tickets and prioritize tasks. Attention to detail and drive to succeed. Mechanically inclined and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Problem-solving skills and ability to work as a team player with a positive attitude. Ability to read a ruler and convert decimals and fractions. Ability to differentiate color and understand instruments used to monitor/correct color during make-ready and press run. Understanding of inline finishing equipment, stacking equipment and related adjustments. Computer proficiency; ability to work independently and with others. Ability to obtain a forklift license. Working Conditions
Work involves frequent standing, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Good vision and hand-eye coordination required. Overtime as required. Production environment. Breaks aligned with press runtime; break times may vary. Experience
Experience as an Inline Material Handler or similar required. Printing industry experience a plus. Education
