Sr. Engineer, Identity & Access Management FTE - permanent Onsite 3 days a week in Morris county, NJ 120-140k Position Overview: A direct client of ours is seeking a seasoned Identity and Access Management (IAM) specialist to support and evolve enterprise-wide authentication, authorization, and directory services infrastructure. This hands-on technical role will focus on Microsoft Active Directory, Okta, and related IAM technologies to ensure secure, efficient access control across a hybrid IT environment. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in IAM tools and protocols, experience implementing enterprise-scale solutions, and a strong understanding of compliance frameworks. Responsibilities: Oversee and manage core IAM technologies, including enterprise Active Directory, ADFS, Microsoft Certificate Services, and policy configurations. Define and lead the execution of an enterprise IAM strategy, establishing clear milestones and ensuring delivery against a defined roadmap. Design and maintain directory synchronization services for Windows-based environments across the enterprise, ensuring consistency and reliability in identity management systems. Configure and manage Okta for Single Sign-On (SSO) and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), including new application integrations. Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions that align with organizational needs and evolving security standards. Develop, test, and implement improvements to IAM systems, ensuring readiness for production deployment. Incorporate insights from operational trends and incident analysis to strengthen the organization’s security capabilities. Generate reports and usage metrics to inform senior leadership of system health, user activity, and IAM trends. Support compliance efforts by contributing to internal and external audits, particularly in areas such as PCI DSS, data privacy regulations, and other security standards. Required Qualifications: 10+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise IAM, Active Directory, and Okta administration. Expertise with Active Directory architecture, LDAP, group policy objects (GPOs), AD attributes, and integration with third-party applications. Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automation and AD attribute management. In-depth knowledge of native AD group permissions, GPO configurations, and Windows workstation settings. Solid experience with certificate services (PKI), DNS, IIS, and other related Windows server roles. Familiarity with database systems, particularly SQL, in the context of IAM solution integration. Working knowledge of Azure AD and hybrid environments with managed directory services. Understanding of Office 365 identity architecture and integration. Experience with IAM compliance activities related to privacy and regulatory frameworks. Preferred Skills: Experience with Oracle databases. Strong analytical mindset with proven problem-solving ability. Comfortable working collaboratively in cross-functional teams. Seniority level
