Responsibilities
Maintain hospital building grounds, including lawns, shrub plantings, trees, parking lots, walkways, and parking zones.
Operate and perform preventive maintenance on power equipment such as tractors, pole saws, pruning tools, power vacuums, blowers, chain saws, snow removal equipment, and sprayers.
Mow and edge turf using hand and power equipment.
Operate the exterior sprinkler watering system to maintain lawns and grounds.
Mix and apply fertilizers, soil conditioners, weed control materials, and other chemicals in correct proportions.
Prune trees, shrubs, and other plants, and perform litter pick‑up, leaf removal, and general clean‑up of areas.
Perform minor construction and repair work on exterior retaining walls, fences, walkways, parking lots, tables, benches, and other hospital grounds structures.
Assist with painting of railings, guardrails, parking lot striping, and other surface repairs.
Install flagstone, granite blocks, and other paving materials.
Assist with interior maintenance tasks such as hanging pictures, repairing office furniture, lubricating chair rollers, replacing light fixtures, and performing minor wall repairs and touch‑up painting.
Report maintenance problems and complete service request forms documenting work performed.
Provide assistance as a maintenance helper for emergency flood containment and clean‑up duties.
Maintain tools, equipment, and work area in a clean, safe, and orderly condition.
Qualifications
High school graduate or high school equivalency diploma preferred.
Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
One year of advanced trade school training or three years of related maintenance experience.
Familiarity with a variety of tools, building methods, and safety codes.
Strong communication skills and problem‑solving ability.
Good motor skills and dexterity.
