Sorting Room Responsibilities (50%)

Receives, inspects and sorts donated items such as clothes, shoes, household items, bric-a-brac, etc., according to category and condition; selects items suitable for store display and routes them for further sorting and/or pricing; discards items per established procedures. Tags items with specially coded tickets and/or prices in accordance with established procedures; hangs clothes on hangers and places them on clothes racks. Packs items in boxes and marks boxes accordingly; assists in transporting boxes to the appropriate storage area; lifts and carries items to destinations for further processing, storage or display in store. Prepares non-suitable clothes for the baler. Sorting Room Orderliness and Cleanliness Responsibilities (50%)

Maintains warehouse area in a neat and orderly manner; cleans floors, tables and work areas. Places and arranges items in the store as directed; checks all store displays to ensure items are neat and orderly; rotates/rearranges stock as directed; returns items to proper locations after customers have handled them. Cleans all display racks and shelves; sweeps and mops floors; cleans windows and mirrors; ensures the store remains clean and inviting. Other Responsibilities

Inspects donated items to ensure they can be used according to established policies and procedures. Assists customers in carrying purchased/donated items in/out of the store. Performs other duties as assigned. Materials and Equipment

Hand Truck General Office Equipment Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with co-workers. Ability to present a positive and professional image of The Salvation Army. Ability to work independently and with limited supervision. Minimum Qualifications Required

Education and Experience: High school diploma or G.E.D. preferred One year experience working in a warehouse preferred Or any equivalent combination of training and experience providing the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Certifications:

None. Physical Requirements: Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write and communicate in English effectively. Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing. Duties are usually performed standing; standing may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of sitting. Moderate physical effort required: sitting, walking, standing, lifting, bending, reaching, twisting, pushing, pulling, and carrying light to heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.). Working Conditions: Work is performed in a normal warehouse environment with potential discomforts related to weather, noise, dust, and dirt. Statement of Purpose
