Position Purpose:
In partnership with the Tuck Advancement Team, and as informed by Tuck’s strategic initiatives, the Special Gifts Officer solicits and secures annual, current use, and facilities gifts ranging from $25,000 to $250,000+ from a portfolio of prospects.
Description:
The Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth seeks a talented and motivated advancement professional to join its team as a Special Gifts Officer to play a pivotal part in strengthening donor engagement and philanthropy to support Tuck’s mission and strategic priorities. Candidates may be based in Hanover, NH, or in an assigned geographical region in the Western or Southeast US States, with flexibility for hybrid/remote arrangements depending on location.
Key Responsibilities
Solicit and secure annual, current use, and facilities gifts (25,000–250,000+) from a portfolio of alumni prospects and ensure prompt payment of pledges.
Identify and cultivate donor prospects, including those who have not given previously or who are not yet giving at full capacity, and refer prospects to other teams when appropriate.
Partner with the Campaign Operations Team to develop gift proposals aligned with specific strategic initiatives.
Enter donor contact activities into the advancement systems and collaborate with relevant partners.
Contribute ideas, input, and support to Tuck Advancement initiatives and stay informed on higher‑education fundraising trends and innovations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Demonstrate professionalism and collegiality in all interactions.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience raising gifts for higher‑education institutions or comparable sales/client‑relationship‑management experience.
Proficiency with fundraising management systems and technology (e.g., Ellucian Advance).
Knowledge of higher‑education economics, philanthropy, and administration.
Willingness to travel extensively to meet donors and attend events.
Strong donor engagement and communication skills.
Ability to introduce and drive innovation in both small and large contexts.
Collaboration across Advancement, Tuck, and Dartmouth to achieve shared goals and objectives.
Commitment to ongoing professional development and application of new knowledge.
