Messina seeks a Raw Material Planner/Buyer for a permanent career opportunity in Forest Park, GA. Our client is a leading global manufacturer of specialty polymers and chemical intermediates. As the Site Raw Material Buyer, you'll be at the heart of operations, ensuring seamless material flow that directly impacts production success. This is more than a purchasing role; you'll be a strategic partner to our clients' production teams, managing complex supplier relationships and driving operational excellence.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Strategic Procurement & Planning
Partner with production teams and tolling partners to forecast material needs and optimize inventory levels
Create and manage purchase orders with full procurement authority for raw materials and services
Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure reliable delivery and quality
Operations & Analysis
Coordinate material deliveries and manage goods receipt processes across multiple warehouses
Conduct monthly inventory reconciliations with tolling partners to ensure accuracy
Analyze and resolve invoice discrepancies using SAP systems
Document and track quality nonconformances to drive continuous improvement
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with Purchasing Managers on strategic initiatives
Provide backup coverage for Site Scheduler during vacations
Train and mentor team members as our operations grow
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
2+ years in procurement, supply chain, or materials management
Chemical manufacturing, processing, or related industrial experience strongly preferred
SAP or ERP system experience is highly valued
Strong analytical skills with advanced Excel proficiency
Ability to work on-site in our manufacturing facility
Understanding of industrial safety protocols and procedures
PERSONAL QUALITIES
Excellent communication skills – you'll be the bridge between multiple departments
Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities
Collaborative team player who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines
